World of Warcraft has discreetly reactivated the Restore Character feature after a nearly two-month hiatus. Although this update wasn't highlighted in any official announcements or patch notes, players can now once again utilize the Restore Character function.

The Warbands system, introduced during The War Within Pre-Patch, brought a slew of quality-of-life improvements aimed at making more aspects of gameplay account-wide. This extensive update significantly altered how character data is managed, leading to the temporary suspension of the Character Restoration service without a clear return date.

However, World of Warcraft has now resolved the issues that affected this feature. Players can once more use the Character Restoration button, which allows them to restore a deleted character once every seven days. Despite the feature’s return being unceremonious, players who have eligible deleted characters—and who have not yet reached the 65-character limit—can now access it.

Understanding Character Restoration in WoW

The Restore Character button, located next to the Create a New Character button on the login screen, lets players recover a deleted character every seven days. However, certain conditions can prevent a character from being restored:

- Characters under level 10 or those on a Class Trial

- Allied Races or Hero classes at their starting level

- Characters deleted for more than 90 days if they were between levels 10 and 29

- Characters deleted for more than 120 days if they were between levels 30 and 49

- If an account already has 65 characters, the Restore Character button will not be visible

- Players may need to rename their restored character if its previous name has been taken since deletion

Characters deleted during the period when Character Restoration was unavailable are still eligible for recovery, provided they meet the standard criteria. This means players can restore characters deleted since the Pre-Expansion Update for WoW: The War Within on July 23, as long as they are above level 10.

With the 20th anniversary event for World of Warcraft on the horizon, now is an ideal time to consider restoring old characters. The event offers a 20% experience boost, making it easier for restored characters to level up and reach the endgame. This bonus could be a great opportunity to revive a character and quickly advance to the current level cap.
