As Season One of World of Warcraft: The War Within kicks off, one player has sparked a discussion about a restriction in Mythic+ Dungeons. They highlighted that players are limited to applying for only five active groups at a time, which has led many in the community to call for changes—whether that’s increasing the cap or removing it altogether.
Mythic+ Dungeons are a core feature of World of Warcraft, offering dedicated players greater challenges and rewards. These dungeons are designed to evolve with affixes that change regularly, either by boosting enemy health or adding mechanics that make progressing more difficult. Players who complete these dungeons within a set time limit are rewarded based on their performance, making Mythic+ a highly popular aspect of the game. With each new content patch, the rotation of dungeons is refreshed. Currently, Season One features four dungeons from The War Within and four from previous expansions.
While Mythic+ Dungeons are widely loved, they aren’t without issues. One of the most notable flaws is the restriction on how many group applications a player can submit at once. A Reddit user named Szelenas recently posted a screenshot on the r/wow subreddit, sparking conversation about this very issue. At present, players can only apply to five groups at any given time, each of which typically requires a Tank, a Healer, and three DPS (damage dealers). However, with the vast number of DPS specializations, like the Frost Death Knight, it can be incredibly difficult for players to find a spot in a dungeon group, leading to frustration.
In the thread, World of Warcraft players discussed various ways Blizzard could improve the current system. Szelenas suggested completely removing the cap on how many Mythic+ Dungeon groups a player can apply to at once. Others proposed more balanced alternatives, such as raising the limit from five to anywhere between 10 and 30 applications. Some also suggested shortening the expiration time of an application from the current five minutes to one or two minutes, making the process more efficient.
There was also discussion about addons that players use to filter groups based on specific requirements, such as the Mythic Keystone level completed. Many agreed that Blizzard could enhance the group finder’s interface, adding more filtering options and controls to help players better navigate the search for Mythic+ groups.
While opinions vary on the current state of Mythic+ Dungeons and Delves, these features remain critical for gearing up characters in The War Within. Only time will tell whether Blizzard responds to the community’s calls for improvements to the group application system. For now, players continue to debate the best path forward, hoping to see changes that make finding a group for Mythic+ Dungeons smoother and more accessible.
