Big changes are coming for World of Warcraft Shamans with Patch 11.0.5, as the update will introduce a second set of Ascendance forms, offering players more visual variety and customization. Additionally, glyphs will be added, giving players the choice to stick with the original forms or opt for one of the newly designed models. Patch 11.0.5 is slated for release in late October, and these changes are generating plenty of excitement among fans of the class.
In the initial Patch 11.0.5 announcement, World of Warcraft revealed new Elemental Ascendant forms that would replace the older 12-year-old Ascendance transformations tied to the Shaman specializations. Although these new models featured improved graphics and modern designs, many players weren’t fond of the artistic direction, with the exaggerated, wild hair becoming a particular point of criticism.
Now, a second set of updated Ascendance forms has been unveiled. These revised models maintain the improvements in visual fidelity but incorporate a few significant adjustments. The unruly hair has been tamed, the skeletal faces have been reworked to look more elemental, and the armor now features a helm and pauldrons inspired by the iconic Ten Storms Tier 2 set—available to players during WoW’s upcoming 20th-anniversary event. These changes were first discovered by Wowhead and are expected to roll out soon on the Patch 11.0.5 Public Test Realm (PTR).
These redesigned models will serve as the new default forms, but World of Warcraft is also offering glyphs to further enhance customization. With the Glyph of Energetic Ascendance, players can choose to use the earlier models featuring the wild hair, while the Glyph of Traditional Ascendance will let them return to the classic hooded forms from the past.
Shaman players are thrilled with these new options, and the response to the updated models has been overwhelmingly positive. Even more exciting is the introduction of glyphs that allow players to select between three distinct styles—offering more personalization than ever before. Many in the community are hopeful that this marks the beginning of a broader customization update for Shamans, similar to the one Druids received in Patch 10.2 of Dragonflight.
These new Ascendance forms and glyphs will be available for testing on the PTR shortly, with the official launch happening in Patch 11.0.5. While no exact date has been confirmed for the patch release, the PTR includes World of Warcraft’s 20th-anniversary event, starting on October 22, making it likely that Patch 11.0.5 will launch around the same time.
