Destiny 2: Xur's Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for September 6

Xur has made his return to Destiny 2, bringing with him an exciting selection of exotic and legendary gear available for a limited time. With Act 3 in full swing, Bungie is gearing up to reveal the future of Destiny 2, including anticipated updates alongside the upcoming Episode: Revenant in October. After dropping some hints back in August, Bungie is ready to delve deeper into what lies ahead, with another developer update set for next week. This update is expected to provide more details on "Codename: Frontiers."

In the meantime, Bungie is gradually revealing more about Episode: Revenant, including some significant changes to the Dungeon and Raid rotator. Starting in October, the Weekly Rotator will feature four missions instead of two, cutting down wait times for players and making it easier to farm specific gear. Along with the inclusion of Warlord's Ruin in the queue, these adjustments aim to enhance the player experience.

But before Bungie's big reveal next week, let's focus on this weekend’s merchant, Xur, who has stocked up on fresh exotics and legendary gear. Here's everything you need to know, including his current location, his exotic cipher quest, and a review of his offerings for the weekend of September 6, 2024.

Where is Xur?

Xur has taken up a permanent spot in The Tower's Bazaar area, meaning no more hunting for him every weekend. Players can quickly access the Bazaar from either fast travel point. Once there, head to the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are stationed and look for the Ramen Shop near the back wall. The alley to the right of the shop is where you'll find Xur standing, ready with his inventory.

Xur's Exotic Armor and Cipher Quest

As usual, Xur brings a selection of exotics and legendary items, along with his weekly quests. Completing these quests not only grants a second Fated Engram but is also necessary for acquiring legacy exotic gear from the Tower’s kiosk. Players can earn a new Exotic Cipher by completing strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit matches, with bonus points for playing with clanmates or taking on more difficult challenges.

Promethium Spur – Warlock Leg Armor  

Exotic Perk: Embers of Light  

- Daybreak final blows create a healing and empowering Rift at the target's location. When using a Solar Super, Solar weapon final blows also grant Rift energy. Standing in a Rift increases this energy, and final blows while in a Rift consume class ability energy to create a healing and empowering Rift at the target’s location.

Despite its interesting perks, this week's roll is the lowest for Warlocks, and it's not considered top-tier exotic armor. Players can probably skip this one.

Ophidia Spathe – Hunter Chest Armor  

Exotic Perk: Scissor Fingers

- Gain a second knife per charge. Throwing knife final blows grant a stacking damage bonus for consecutive knife kills, with Gambler’s Dodge refreshing the bonus timer.

Perfect for those who love throwing knives, this armor is great with the right build. While the roll isn’t amazing, it's decent enough to be worth considering.

Mask of the Quiet One – Titan Helmet  

Exotic Perk: Dreaded Visage

Titans win the highest stat roll this week, though the mobility is higher than most would prefer. Nonetheless, this is a solid pick for survival-focused builds.

Hawkmoon – Hand Cannon

- Perk: Paracausal Shot – Final blows and precision hits generate Paracausal Charge. The last round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon removes this bonus on the final round.  

- Other Perks: Hammer Forged Rifling, Alloy Magazine, Quickdraw, Heavy Grip  

Crimson – Hand Cannon  

- Perk: Banned Weapon – Fires a three-round burst.  

- Perk: Cruel Remedy – Kills heal the wielder. Precision kills also refill the magazine.

Borealis – Sniper Rifle

- Perk: The Fundamentals – Holding reload changes this weapon’s damage type between Solar, Arc, and Void, providing different stat bonuses.  

- Perk: Ionic Return – Breaking an enemy's shield with a matched damage type refills the magazine and grants bonus damage rounds.  

- Other Perks: Extended Mag, Corkscrew Rifling, Hand-Laid Stock  

Two-Tailed Fox – Rocket Launcher  

- Perk: Twintails – Fires two rockets, one Void and one Solar, that track the same target.
