Destiny 2 Titan Abilities Set for Significant Buffs

With the arrival of Episode: Revenant, Titan players in Destiny 2 can look forward to substantial buffs across various subclasses, melee abilities, and a significant overhaul of the Barricade. Traditionally, the game's three classes have filled classic RPG roles—Hunters as the rogues, Warlocks as mages, and Titans as the frontline warriors. However, Bungie aims to reinforce the Titan’s identity as Destiny 2's premier tank.

Historically, the Titan class has struggled to match the popularity of Warlocks and Hunters, a trend highlighted during the Destiny 2 Guardian Games. Players often joke that Titans excel primarily at punching, a sentiment that became more pronounced with the release of The Final Shape expansion, which exposed a lack of synergy among many of the Titan's Prismatic aspects and abilities. Fortunately, Bungie is stepping in to enhance the Titan's gameplay experience, allowing it to embody the tank role more effectively.

In its latest weekly blog, Bungie previewed significant gameplay updates set to arrive with Episode: Revenant in October, particularly focusing on Titans. The developer is looking to add depth and viability for high-tier content by improving existing features rather than removing them.

Key Titan Enhancements

One of the standout changes is that the Barricade, Unbreakable shield, and Sentinel Shield's guard will now actively taunt enemies, drawing their fire away from teammates. Notable adjustments include reduced damage taken by the Barricade, the Unbreakable shield generating grenade energy from blocked damage, and increased PvE damage resistance for the Void Overshield.

Exciting Buffs to Titan Abilities

Bungie has plans for an array of buffs that apply to both the Prismatic Titan and its standard subclasses, including:

- Consecration: Scorch and slam waves will now shatter Stasis Crystals.

- Diamond Lance: Both thrown and slammed Diamond Lances will shatter Stasis Crystals, and slamming one grants you and nearby allies two stacks of Frost Armor. Additionally, the HUD will now display the remaining time before a Diamond Lance disappears, similar to a Tangle.

- Knockout: Melee kills will now eliminate health and shield stun, allowing for immediate health regeneration.

- Shiver Strike: This ability now attaches a Stasis explosive on impact, slowing and freezing enemies. It also refunds 80% melee energy if missed and has an increased energy recharge rate of 12.5%. Furthermore, the attacker’s melee ability will be suppressed for 0.5 seconds after landing a Shiver Strike.

Lastly, Bungie is enhancing the Titan's melee capability, ensuring that unpowered melee attacks hit harder than those of Hunters or Warlocks. This includes a 5% damage increase against players, a 25% boost against PvE enemies, and a heightened stun multiplier.

Looking Ahead: Major Updates in Destiny 2

These Titan changes are just one piece of what promises to be a significant update alongside Episode: Revenant. Bungie has been actively sharing details on upcoming changes, including the removal of time-gated story content. Another noteworthy update is that Dungeon and Raid farming will become more efficient, with the weekly reset offering two options for each activity instead of the usual one, effectively halving the time it takes for certain activities to cycle back around, reducing the wait from eight weeks to four.

With these exciting developments on the horizon, Destiny 2 players, especially Titans, have much to look forward to!
