In Black Myth: Wukong, players can discover a valuable upgrade material known as Awaken Wine Worm. These worms are essential for enhancing certain Drinks in the game, making them more effective in healing. By visiting the Shen Monkey, players can check which Drinks are eligible for upgrades and use the Wine Worms to boost their healing abilities. These items are hidden inside glowing pots scattered throughout the game, which can be destroyed or rolled through to collect them.
While it’s not mandatory to gather every Wine Worm—especially if you’re not utilizing Drinks like Coconut Wine or Lambbrew—doing so can give you an edge in tougher battles. Below is a comprehensive guide detailing the locations of all Awaken Wine Worms and the nearest Keeper's Shrines to each of them.
There are a total of 12 Awaken Wine Worms hidden throughout the game, some of which can even be purchased at specific moments during your journey. Here's where you can find each one:
# | Closest Keeper's Shrine | Location |
1 | Cave Interior, Black Wind Cave (Chapter 1) | After defeating Black Wind King, look to the left side of the boss arena to find the Wine Worm in a far corner. |
2 | Valley of Despair, Sandgate Village (Chapter 2) | From the Valley of Despair Keeper's Shrine, head towards the cave. Follow the straight path until you fall to the lower level and immediately head right to find the Wine Worm at the end of this path. |
3 | Marsh of the White Mist, Bamboo Grove (Chapter 3) | You can buy this from the Shen Monkey at the start of the third chapter. |
4 | Outside the Wheel, Pagoda Realm (Chapter 3) | Turn around from the Keeper's Shrine and head towards the boss arena, but turn to the right as soon as possible. As you approach the wooden chest, go down to the lower floor by dropping down to the rock platforms. Continue forward, and you will find the Wine Worm on your left. |
5 | Longevity Road, Valley of Esctacy (Chapter 3) | From the Keeper's Shrine, immediately head left after going through the wooden Tori gate. Follow this path and go up the stairs. As you approach another wooden Tori gate, take the left path to find a Turtle Treasure enemy with the Wine Worm on top of a wooden platform you can reach by going around the enemy. |
6 | Village Entrance, Zodiac Village (Chapter 4) | You can buy this from the Shen Monkey at the start of the fourth chapter. |
7 | Estate of the Zhu, Village of Lanxi (Chapter 4) | From the Estate of Zhu Keeper's Shrine, head through the gate and into the first house on the right, with webs covering the front door. Inside, you can find the Wim Worm. This is the same arena where you fight The Second Sister boss. |
8 | Temple Entrance, Temple of the Yellow Flower (Chapter 4) | Go through the Temple Entrance and climb the stairs to reach a small area with another doorway to the right. Head through there to find a courtyard filled with Yellow-Robed enemies. Head towards the staircase ahead and ignore the Snake Sheriff enemy to head left. You will find the Old Man NPC sitting next to the Wine Worm. |
9 | Petalfall Hamlet, Secret: Purple Cloud Mountain (Chapter 4) | From the Keeper's Shrine, head up the stairs and enter the area where you find the Daoist Mi NPC. Head through the doorway ahead and immediately turn left. You will find a narrow path and some stairs leading to the Wine Worm. |
10 | Village Entrance, Zodiac Village (Chapter 5) | You can buy this from the Shen Monkey at the start of the fifth chapter. |
11 | Rakshasa Palace, Furnace Valley (Chapter 5) | From the Keeper's Shrine, follow the main path going past the enemies until you spot the first Earth Rakshasa enemy. Head left to the small building past the lava lake. Inside, you can find the Wine Worm and the Old Man sitting in the corner, ready to upgrade your Gourd to the max. |
12 | Corridor of Fire and Ice, Secret: Bishui Cave (Chapter 5) | Inside the Bishui Cave Secret Area, head straight from the Corridor of Fire and Ice and through the melted ice door. You will find the Wine Worm immediately to your left as you go up the stairs. |
