In Star Wars Outlaws, players have a variety of activities to enjoy beyond the main storyline. Many of these side missions or jobs can enhance a player’s reputation with the different factions on a planet, improving relationships and providing valuable rewards.
One type of smaller mission available to players is called Intel. Intel consists of small clues or pieces of information that Kay, the protagonist, can discover while exploring the galaxy. These clues can lead to extra rewards for players who take the time to seek them out.
Intel missions vary in difficulty and the rewards they offer, but all are worth completing. Players can obtain Intel in several ways:
- Buying from smugglers
- Overhearing conversations in bars or cities
- Reading data on datapads
- Listening to NPCs
When new Intel is acquired, it appears in the Intel menu, which can be accessed by opening the main menu and navigating to the Journal section. Intel is listed as the second option from the top, marked with a magnifying glass icon. The sources of Intel are consistent throughout the game, meaning they are the same for every player and each playthrough.
The difficulty of completing Intel can vary. Sometimes players receive only a vague hint about where to search, such as a general area or a specific landmark on the map. Other times, the location is marked precisely. Players can scroll through the Intel menu to organize their clues and decide which missions to tackle first, making it easier to find and complete tasks, especially when using an upgraded speeder.
Players should always seek out Intel, even if it means purchasing it at a high price. The rewards are typically valuable and will often exceed the cost of buying the Intel, provided the player is willing to see the mission through. Intel must be unlocked in the menu before it can be completed, so players won't accidentally stumble upon these missions. Occasionally, unlocking the Intel might require an additional step, such as gaining access to a specific merchant like Lalini Ledeno.
Intel often requires exploring areas outside the main zones of a planet. Without acquiring the Intel through purchase or overhearing, the items or objectives won’t even appear. For those willing to invest the time, Intel missions are always a good investment and provide useful upgrade materials like Transparisteel.
Star Wars Outlaws offers players plenty of opportunities to engage with the game's world beyond its central plot. By tracking down Intel and completing these side missions, players can deepen their connection to the game's universe, enhance their capabilities, and earn significant rewards.
