In Star Wars Outlaws, the Gas Acceleration Converter is a crucial component for enhancing Kay’s Blaster. Specifically, it is needed to fully upgrade the weapon’s Rapid Configuration. However, this key part is only available from one vendor in the galaxy, and purchasing it requires building a strong reputation with a powerful syndicate. Here's everything you need to know to obtain the Gas Acceleration Converter and how it benefits your Blaster.
To get your hands on the Gas Acceleration Converter, you’ll need to visit Viska, the Armorer located in the Ashiga District on Kimji. She offers this Blaster Key Part for 1,500 Credits. However, there’s a catch: you must achieve an "Excellent" reputation with the Ashiga Clan before she will sell it to you.
If your reputation with the Ashiga Clan is only "Good" or lower, Viska won’t interact with you or offer her goods. That said, you can still enter her shop in the Ashiga District if you manage to sneak past the guards.
To be able to purchase the Gas Acceleration Converter, you’ll need to work your way up to an Excellent reputation with the Ashiga Clan. Here are some effective strategies for improving your standing with them:
- Sell Intel: Trading valuable intel on rival syndicates with Ashiga vendors is a great way to boost your reputation.
- Complete Contracts: Contract brokers will offer side quests that reward you with reputation points once completed.
- Random Events: Keep an eye out for pop-up events, especially during space travel. These opportunities can provide substantial reputation rewards.
The Gas Acceleration Converter is designed to boost your Blaster’s performance by increasing the speed of plasma bolts, similar to how a muzzle velocity attachment works for standard firearms. In addition to this enhancement, the Converter unlocks the third tier of the Rapid Configuration upgrade, which reduces the rate at which your Blaster overheats, allowing for longer sustained fire.
Requirements for Rapid Configuration 3 Upgrade:
- Polycarbonate (20)
- Actuating Module (10)
- Gas Acceleration Converter
While Blaster upgrades in Star Wars Outlaws can improve your weapon, they are generally not essential for progressing through the game. The Gas Acceleration Converter falls into this category—it’s useful, but not a must-have unless you have plenty of spare credits. Additionally, if you don’t already have a high reputation with the Ashiga Clan, the effort required to obtain the Converter may not justify the benefit it provides.
Invest in the Gas Acceleration Converter only if you’ve built up a solid reputation with the Ashiga Clan and have the extra resources to spare. Otherwise, you might find your credits better spent elsewhere.
