If you've found the stealth segments in Star Wars Outlaws to be frustrating and challenging, you're definitely not alone. Since the game's launch, players have voiced their dissatisfaction, referring to the instant-failure mechanics and compulsory stealth sections as "trash."
However, with the arrival of Update 1.2, it appears that these stealth encounters have been improved, offering a less aggravating experience for players. This recent title update marks the largest since the game's initial release in late August.
For those interested in the specifics, the complete patch notes for Update 1.2 are available here. Beyond stealth adjustments, this update also addresses several issues related to the speeder and introduces additional accessibility options, among various other enhancements and fixes.
The most significant modification to the stealth gameplay includes:
- Refined Stealth Experience: The update adjusts AI detection, NPC counts and their placements, patrol paths, camera detection, and highlights environmental opportunities to ease player challenges.
Additionally, the update includes a reduction in detection chances while using cover, along with resolving an issue where some NPCs were unaffected by Nix's distractions. Ubisoft has also clarified that in Underworld, they have "adjusted enemy amounts, AI detection, patrols, and the scalable environment to improve the stealth experience."
These changes are a direct response to the feedback received from fans shortly after the game's debut. At that time, creative director Julian Gerighty acknowledged in an interview that some stealth sections felt "unfair." He further admitted that it wasn't the team's intention to create such frustrating instant-fail scenarios, attributing the issue to a last-minute oversight during development.
While it's uncertain whether these enhancements will completely transform the gameplay experience, they should certainly make it more enjoyable. The impact of Star Wars Outlaws has already been felt at Ubisoft, resulting in the postponement of the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows to 2025.
