To find a Magnemite, including its Shiny variant, in Pokémon GO, you'll typically encounter them as wild spawns. Events like the Magnemite Spotlight Hour can significantly boost the chances of encountering both regular and Shiny Magnemite. However, you’ll likely need to encounter many regular Magnemites before stumbling upon a Shiny one due to their rarity.
While special events do increase Magnemite’s appearance rate, you can use various in-game items to further improve your odds. Items like Incense, Lure Modules, and the Weather Boost effect can significantly enhance the spawn rate of wild Pokémon. Incense and Lure Modules need to be activated manually, while the Weather Boost effect is passive, influencing spawn rates depending on the current weather conditions in your area.
Magnemite’s spawn rate increases notably in rainy or snowy weather. For Shiny hunters, a good strategy involves heading to a PokéStop during these weather conditions, using a Lure Module, activating Incense, and walking within the area of effect. This combination maximizes the spawn rate of Magnemite, especially during event times, increasing your chances of encountering a Shiny variant. The more Magnemite you come across, the sooner you'll encounter a Shiny one.
Once you’ve caught a Shiny Magnemite in Pokémon GO, you can evolve it into a Shiny Magneton and eventually a Shiny Magnezone. To evolve a Shiny Magnemite into a Shiny Magneton, you'll need 50 Candy. Evolving Shiny Magneton into Shiny Magnezone requires 100 Candy and the use of a Magnetic Lure Module. To start this evolution, place a Magnetic Lure Module on a PokéStop and then initiate the evolution process while within its influence area.
Magnetic Lure Modules can be purchased in the Pokémon GO shop for 180 PokéCoins, roughly equivalent to $2.00 USD. They can also be earned for free by completing certain Special Research or Timed Research tasks. To gather enough Candy, catch and transfer as many Magnemite as possible, especially during events when they are more common.
