Pokémon GO is gearing up to introduce new costumed Pokémon during its Festival of Lights 2024 event, but there's a twist—this addition will be available exclusively to players in India. The Festival of Lights, an annual in-game event celebrating the spirit of Diwali, is one of Pokémon GO's most anticipated regional celebrations each fall.
October has already been a bustling month for Pokémon GO enthusiasts, featuring plenty of exciting updates. The month started with Sewaddle Community Day, and the much-awaited Halloween event is just around the corner, scheduled for late October.
While speculation is building around the possible introduction of the Gigantamax feature during these Halloween festivities, Niantic has yet to confirm any details. Meanwhile, there's another big event on the horizon, but only a select group of players will be able to join in on the fun.
In a recent announcement on their official blog, Niantic unveiled details of the upcoming Festival of Lights event in Pokémon GO. This special event will run from November 1 to November 4, 2024, and will be available exclusively to players in India. During this celebration, a new regional costumed Pokémon will make its debut, with more specifics set to be revealed on October 16. In addition to the new Pokémon, players can look forward to a range of bonuses and activities during this festive event.
Throughout the Festival of Lights event, players will enjoy double Stardust and XP for catching Pokémon, making this an ideal time to level up quickly. The spawn rate of Team GO Rocket Grunts will also be increased, providing more chances to battle and catch revamped Pokémon from the newly updated Team GO Rocket lineups. Additionally, the duration of Incense will be extended to three hours, enhancing the chances of encountering rare Pokémon.
Several Pokémon will appear more frequently when Incense is used during the event, including Alolan Geodude, Hisuian Voltorb, Slugma, Volbeat, Illumise, Litwick, Morelull, and Tadbulb. Hisuian Voltorb, Dedenne, Morelull, and an undisclosed Pokémon will also be featured in Pokémon GO raids, giving players even more opportunities to expand their collection.
Players will also be able to complete new Field Research tasks that reward them with encounters featuring Morelull, Tadbulb, and a yet-to-be-revealed mystery Pokémon. It's widely believed that this surprise encounter will be the new regional costumed Pokémon debuting at the Festival of Lights.
While the event may be limited to a specific region, Pokémon GO fans worldwide are buzzing with anticipation to see which Pokémon will don a festive costume for this year's Diwali season. Even though only Indian players can take part directly, the excitement surrounding this exclusive reveal has captured the attention of the entire Pokémon GO community.
