According to a well-known industry insider, Ubisoft has plans to launch approximately ten Assassin's Creed games within the next five years, signaling a significant ramp-up in production for the iconic franchise before the decade concludes.

The 2010s were notably the most prolific period for Assassin's Creed, with Ubisoft releasing over two dozen titles during this time, including nine mainline games and numerous spin-offs. However, as development cycles have lengthened, Ubisoft's output has slowed in recent years, resulting in only two main entries, along with a few mobile and VR spin-offs, since the start of the 2020s.

Approximately 10 New Assassin's Creed Titles Set for Release by 2029

This trend is set to change, as reported by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who cites sources close to the situation. Ubisoft is allegedly gearing up to roll out around ten Assassin's Creed titles over the next five years, featuring a varied lineup that spans multiple genres and game lengths.

While this five-year plan may include a number of smaller projects, even these spin-offs could boast significant budgets. One such title is Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade, an ambitious open-world mobile game set in ancient China that was first announced in 2022. Recent reports indicate that its release has been delayed from 2024 to 2025, and other upcoming titles may also experience similar postponements. Henderson notes that the recent delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows could trigger a domino effect, prompting Ubisoft to reassess its release schedule.

Upcoming Assassin's Creed Titles

Here’s a look at the upcoming Assassin's Creed games:

- Assassin's Creed Shadows

- Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade

- Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe

- Assassin’s Creed: Codename Invictus

- Unnamed Assassin's Creed Netflix game

- Rumored Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake

- Rumored Assassin’s Creed Nebula

- Rumored Assassin's Creed Echoes

Henderson’s report also mentions that the rumored remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag was originally slated for a November 2025 release but has since faced delays. This remake is expected to utilize an updated version of Ubisoft's Anvil Engine and may not be available until 2026.

Codename Hexe and Codename Invictus, which were revealed alongside Jade and Shadows (formerly Codename Red), currently lack confirmed release dates. The Netflix-exclusive Assassin's Creed game, announced in September 2022, is also still without a timeline.

Ubisoft’s Strategy and Market Concerns

By doubling down on its flagship franchise, Ubisoft aims to navigate its current challenges, which stem from a few unremarkable years marked by high-budget titles that failed to meet sales expectations. However, launching an average of two Assassin's Creed games per year until 2029 poses the risk of saturating the market and potentially leading to franchise fatigue among fans.
