Atlus has announced its commitment to enhancing the performance of Metaphor: ReFantazio on PC. Following the release of a demo that highlighted various performance challenges, many players expressed concerns about the game's quality on this platform. However, the developers are determined to resolve these issues before the official launch.
Originally unveiled during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase last year, Metaphor: ReFantazio promises an epic fantasy narrative set against the backdrop of a kingdom's turmoil after a king's death. Set for release on October 11, the recent demo aimed to give fans an early taste of the game. Unfortunately, players encountered performance hiccups, including noticeable stuttering in densely populated areas.
In response to these concerns, Atlus has publicly acknowledged the PC performance issues and is actively working on solutions. The company expressed gratitude to gamers who downloaded the demo and reassured them that updates to address the problems are underway. Atlus plans to keep players informed about any necessary improvements through its social media channels. The goal is to ensure that the PC experience aligns with the performance observed on consoles.
There’s no doubt that Metaphor: ReFantazio ranks among the most anticipated RPGs of 2024. While it draws inspiration from titles like Persona 5, it also introduces several unique elements, offering a fresh experience for fans of Atlus. Set in the medieval-inspired United Kingdom of Euchronia, the game features distinctive mechanics for Social Links, places less emphasis on romance, and includes a voiced protagonist, among other innovations.
For those eager to explore this new realm, Metaphor: ReFantazio is expected to provide a lengthy gameplay experience. Game director Katsura Hashino confirmed that the RPG's length will be comparable to that of Persona 5, which typically takes around 100 hours to complete—much longer if players engage in side activities. Given the game's calendar-based structure, even a focus on the main storyline will likely require dozens of hours to reach the end credits.
For gamers eager to dive into Metaphor: ReFantazio, the demo is currently available. It covers the initial segments of the story, allowing players to enjoy around four to six hours of gameplay. The good news is that any progress made during the demo will carry over to the full version upon its release.
