Fans of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC have uncovered a highly effective strategy involving a seemingly insignificant item—the Spritestone. This tactic uses the item to knock enemies off ledges, making it a hidden gem for players who want an edge in tricky battles. Despite being introduced in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the Spritestone hasn’t caught the attention of many players since it’s not one of the game’s more prominent items.
In Elden Ring, there’s a vast collection of items that sometimes go unnoticed. However, the player community often finds creative ways to make use of overlooked tools. For example, a player once discovered an unconventional trick with Glass Shards, widely considered one of the least useful items in the game. Similarly, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC includes several items that players might dismiss as unnecessary, but one fan has revealed an extremely powerful use for Spritestones.
In a recent post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user Esbidee shared an innovative strategy using the Spritestone in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The clip shows the player sneaking up on an enemy standing near a cliff’s edge. When the player uses the Spritestone, the enemy is initially confused by its appearance, turning their attention to the player shortly after. But just as the enemy begins to focus, the Spritestone detonates, sending the opponent plummeting off the edge.
There’s more to Spritestones than just pushing enemies off cliffs. Players can also trigger them manually using a Bondstone, adding another layer of versatility to this underappreciated item. To get a Spritestone, players first need to acquire the Antiquity Scholar’s Cookbook in the game, which then allows them to craft it using a combination of Rauh Burrow, Spirit Calculus, and Beast Horn. The Spritestone’s damage scales primarily with Arcane, followed by Intelligence and Faith, so those looking to maximize its power should focus on boosting Arcane.
The newfound trick has caught the attention of Reddit users, with many players admitting they didn’t even know about the item’s existence. In fact, some fans mentioned they had never encountered the Spritestone projectile before, joking that if they did, they’d likely panic and roll into a similar trap. One player humorously remarked that this seems like something Elden Ring’s notorious trickster Patches would pull off, as he’s famous for employing devious tactics.
This discovery highlights how even the most overlooked items in Elden Ring can be used in clever and overpowered ways, further enhancing the game’s already rich and complex combat strategies.
