A new patch has been rolled out for Elden Ring, addressing various critical issues and rectifying glitches and bugs affecting both the core game and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Players will be pleased to learn that this update resolves problems related to enemy behavior and visual rendering, while FromSoftware has also focused on enhancing performance for PlayStation 5 and PC users.

Elden Ring Launches October 2024 Update

2024 has been a remarkable year for Elden Ring and its developer, FromSoftware, primarily due to the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. This significant DLC introduced an extensive array of new weapons, items, areas, and notoriously challenging bosses, marking it as the first—and likely the last—expansion for Elden Ring.

Similar to its original launch, Shadow of the Erdtree quickly captured the gaming community's attention, becoming one of the best-selling DLCs in history. As time progresses, FromSoftware continues to provide support for both the main game and the expansion, with the latest patch bringing several quality-of-life enhancements.

This new update targets a range of persistent bugs that have affected gameplay for quite some time. Long-time players will be especially relieved to see fixes for two particularly bothersome issues: one that caused unexpected enemy rendering and behavior, and another that resulted in sound effects failing to play correctly. Additionally, the patch addresses a bug that previously restricted the use of ashes during battles against the Scadutree Avatar, a boss featured in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

This patch represents yet another step in a series of updates Elden Ring has received over the past few months, particularly aimed at enhancing performance for PC and PlayStation users. FromSoftware now recommends that PS5 users may experience improved frame rates by utilizing the "Rebuild Database" option from the console's safe mode. Meanwhile, PC players may encounter unstable frame rates due to third-party applications that manage mouse behavior; disabling these applications may lead to a smoother gaming experience.

While Shadow of the Erdtree is presumed to be the final piece of downloadable content for Elden Ring, developers have remained somewhat reserved when discussing the game's future. The next major title from FromSoftware is still under wraps, although many fans are eagerly anticipating a direct sequel to Elden Ring. This sentiment is understandable, given that the game has far exceeded the expectations of both FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco. Only time will tell what’s next, but for now, players can immerse themselves once again in The Lands Between for another Elden Ring adventure.
