An intriguing moment unfolded for an Animal Crossing: New Horizons player when they logged into their game, only to discover their Villager, Marina, seemingly emerging from a crime scene. The game's world continues to evolve even when players are not actively playing, often leading to amusing and unexpected scenarios upon their return.
From its inception, the Animal Crossing series has featured Villagers who engage with their surroundings around the clock, thanks to an in-game clock and programmed activities. When players boot up a fresh instance of their island in New Horizons, they are greeted with footage of various characters, including Villagers who can be found in locations such as Nook's Cranny, the Museum, the Able Sisters, or their own homes. However, one player recently witnessed a curious scene involving their Villager, Marina, who was seen leaving an unconscious Gullivarrr behind.
Reddit user SamFromSolitude posted a clip showing Marina shortly after their island loaded. In the video, Marina is seen standing over Gullivarrr before she quickly moves to hide behind her Rainbow Umbrella near a beach house. Interestingly, Kapp'n was also present during this event. Marina, known for her Normal personality and her tendency to sing without a stereo, might seem an unlikely suspect in a crime mystery. While some players might overlook Gullivarrr when he washes up on the shore, this unusual introduction likely piqued SamFromSolitude’s curiosity and led them to investigate.
Although Marina’s departure from the scene might look suspicious, Gullivarrr’s backstory suggests otherwise. Gullivarrr is often depicted as being cast overboard by his own crew, making it improbable that Marina had any role in his predicament. Her seemingly odd behavior may have led SamFromSolitude to suspect something more sinister as they logged in. Gullivarrr, who offers pirate-themed items in New Horizons, is the seafaring counterpart to Gulliver, a recurring character known for rewarding players with world landmark items for their assistance. In New Horizons, helping Gulliver involves searching for Communicator parts rather than simply waking him from his beachside slumber.
Given the specific routines Villagers follow, it’s unlikely that Marina interacted directly with the unconscious Gullivarrr. Fans are eagerly awaiting a potential sequel on the next Nintendo Switch console, which might offer deeper interactions between Villagers and characters like Gullivarrr, enhancing the richness of the Animal Crossing world.
