Genshin Impact is home to numerous Local Legends, some of which can be encountered in the open world, while others, like the challenges in Natlan’s Night's Trial, are part of specialized gameplay events. The Night's Trial bosses come with unique abilities and achievements tied to their specific moves, making them distinct from the typical open-world enemies.
One such boss is Cihuacoatl of Chimeric Bone, found at the Obsidian Totem of the Night's Trial. This airborne enemy clings to anchor points while raining down Dendro attacks. If you’re having trouble with this challenging fight or are unsure how to unlock all three of Cihuacoatl’s achievements, this guide is here to help.
To successfully defeat Cihuacoatl, you must prevent her from staying attached to her anchor points, known as sigils. At the start of the battle, she’ll launch a few random attacks before summoning her sigils and moving to one of them. While in her Hovering State, Cihuacoatl deals significantly more damage and takes less in return. The key to beating her is to destroy these sigils, causing her to crash to the ground and leaving her vulnerable to heavy damage.
For this task, it’s essential to bring a Pyro Bow user. Once Cihuacoatl summons her sigils, stop focusing on her and instead target the sigils with Pyro arrows. The burning effect will slowly wear down the sigils, eventually forcing Cihuacoatl to fall. During this phase, having a strong shielder, like Zhongli, can protect your team while you focus on shooting down her anchor points.
While Pyro works best for this strategy, Electro and Hydro can also be used. Electro requires fewer hits than Hydro to break the sigils, but characters with consistent Pyro damage make the task much easier. Pyro's burn effect ensures that all three sigils are destroyed without requiring constant attention, freeing you up to handle Cihuacoatl’s attacks.
There are three achievements tied to defeating Cihuacoatl in Genshin Impact, each offering rewards and progression in the Night's Trial.
Tier | Achievement | Primogems |
1 | Defeat Local Legend: Cihuacoatl of Chimeric Bone. | 5 |
2 | In a single challenge, break all the grappling anchor points before the Cihuacoatl of Chimeric Bone goes into the hovering state. | 10 |
3 | Defeat the Cihuacoatl of Chimeric Bone while she is in the hovering state. | 20 |
1. First Achievement: Simply defeating Cihuacoatl will unlock this achievement, rewarding players with five Primogems.
2. Second Achievement: This is a bit more challenging. To earn it, players must destroy all three of Cihuacoatl’s sigils while she remains in her Hovering State. After summoning her sigils, she’ll alternate between them, giving you around 15 seconds to destroy them all. Pyro characters are especially helpful for this, as their burning effect ensures the sigils will be destroyed, allowing you to focus on fighting Cihuacoatl.
3. Third Achievement: The final achievement rewards 20 Primogems. To unlock it, you need to defeat Cihuacoatl while she’s grappling onto one of her sigils. Once she’s at low health, wait for her to latch onto a sigil before unleashing your team’s strongest attacks to finish her off.
To locate Cihuacoatl, teleport to the southwestern Teticpac Peak Waypoint. From there, head into the mountains and find your way to the People of the Spring area. You’ll encounter a Yumkasaurus, which you can transform into and use to jump across to the next wooden ledge. Follow the sigils southwest to a small mountain, where you’ll find Cihuacoatl’s Obsidian Totem waiting for the fight to begin.
By using the right strategies and knowing where to find her, you can conquer Cihuacoatl of Chimeric Bone and unlock all the achievements tied to this formidable Night's Trial boss.
