Dark Horse Direct has unveiled a refreshed print of the map of Thedas, and it’s a treasure trove for fans eagerly anticipating the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard later this month. The map not only looks stunning but is packed with Easter eggs and references that fans can speculate about until the game's launch.

A Reddit Discovery

A Reddit user, Ahriman-5, sparked a conversation about the new map, highlighting some intriguing details. One of the most discussed features is the portrayal of Solas as the Dread Wolf in the bottom right corner. He is depicted being pierced by thorns, which many speculate symbolize Ghilan'nain, one of the primary antagonistic Elven gods in The Veilguard.

A Dreadful Fate for the Dread Wolf?

Solas also makes an appearance at the top of the map in his bald and unharmed Elven form. This positioning hints at his impending conflict with Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan, suggesting that Fen'Harel may not fare well in this struggle.

Adding to the intrigue, both gods are illustrated on the map alongside their respective blighted dragons. Ghilan'nain is depicted in the top right, looking displeased, while Elgar'nan appears equally unhappy in the bottom left. One has to wonder what’s bothering them—centuries of captivity certainly haven't dulled their tempers.

The surrounding seas of Thedas are portrayed as blighted, leaving fans to ponder whether this is merely artistic flair or if it carries deeper significance. Eyeballs can be seen lurking in the water, possibly hinting at Kraken-like creatures. Notably, these eerie beings are located near Rivain, a region connected to a malevolent sea god as seen in the Thedas Calls trailer.

Secrets of Minrathous

A closer inspection of Minrathous reveals a tentacled creature with a human face emerging from the city. Some fans speculate this could be the ancient demon believed to be trapped beneath it. In the anthology novel Tevinter Nights, Neve Gallus uncovers a Venatori plot aimed at awakening this very demon.

More Exciting Details

The map is filled with other intriguing elements. The Dwarven city of Kal'Sharok is shown adjacent to the Grey Warden headquarters in Weisshaupt. In the top left corner, there’s what appears to be a rook (bird), likely representing the protagonist of Veilguard. At the bottom, we see references to the Venatori and red lyrium—issues that the heroes of the series have struggled to eliminate.

The map is available for pre-order until November 5, the same day Dragon Age: The Veilguard will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There's much to explore in this map, and fans can hardly wait to dive into the new adventures awaiting them in Thedas.
