Helldivers 2 Set to Reintroduce Armor from the Original Game

Recent datamining efforts have revealed that Helldivers 2 will feature revamped armor from the original game, redesigned to align with the sequel's enhanced quality and visual style. According to the leakers, this content is expected to launch in time for Liberty Day later this month.

For those unfamiliar, Liberty Day is celebrated annually on October 26, commemorating the anniversary of 'Managed Democracy,' which marks the unification of Super Earth following the Great War.

In addition to the armor, dataminers have also uncovered the Constitution Rifle, a weapon first introduced in the original game back in 2016, specifically for the inaugural Liberty Day celebration.

From 2016 to 2019, developer Arrowhead celebrated Liberty Day with blog posts, contests, giveaways, and new cosmetics, including weapons. Based on the leaked rifle and armor, it appears that Helldivers 2 is poised to continue this festive tradition.

A Nod to the Cyborgs and Illuminate

One particularly intriguing aspect of the leaked armor is its description, which reads: "Worn by the heroic Helldivers who battled and forever defeated the Terminids, Cyborgs, and Illuminate in the First Galactic War."

This statement references two factions from the original game: the Cyborgs and the Illuminate. The Cyborgs were responsible for creating the Automatons, which share many design features, but they were imprisoned on Cyberstan following the first war.

The fate of the Cyborgs post-war remains uncertain, leading to fan speculation that they may have completely lost their humanity and transformed into Automatons themselves.

On the other hand, Super Earth propaganda claims that the Illuminate were entirely eradicated. Yet, players have already glimpsed Illuminate weaponry and cloaked warships, with leaks suggesting new models for months. Additionally, their territory has been identified on the Galactic Map. The notion that they were "forever defeated" seems a bit exaggerated, doesn't it?

Some fans speculate that the Illuminate may finally take an active role in the Second Galactic War this Liberty Day.

Another interesting detail confirmed by the leak is the explicit identification of the "bugs" from the original Helldivers as Terminids. While their design similarities have long suggested this connection, the statement reinforces the idea of the first war’s futility, despite Super Earth’s attempts to portray a more heroic narrative.

The Terminids continue to threaten the galaxy, the Cyborgs persist as Automatons, and the Illuminate remain poised to strike. But at least players will have some stylish armor to wear while facing the chaos!
