HoYoverse has revealed that significant changes are on the horizon for Zenless Zone Zero, including key optimizations and enhancements to gameplay elements like the TV Mode Hollow Exploration. Following the successes of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero has quickly become another triumph for the studio.
Maintaining the familiar free-to-play gacha mechanics, Zenless Zone Zero offers a more action-driven experience, featuring fast-paced combat and beautifully animated characters navigating an urban wasteland. The game keeps players engaged with regular introductions of new characters via limited-time banners, along with a steady stream of events and story missions to encourage frequent log-ins.
Despite its success, HoYoverse recognizes that not everything is perfect and has formulated plans to address some of the game's shortcomings that players have voiced concerns about.
Ahead of the anticipated 1.2 patch, HoYoverse shared a comprehensive list of upcoming optimizations, changes, and enhancements for Zenless Zone Zero, set to roll out this week and in the future. The next update will introduce features like a Backup Battery Charge system, enabling players to exceed their energy limits.
Previously, players could only obtain rare resources for leveling Agents through the Notorious Hunt mode. However, HoYoverse will introduce new methods to farm these materials. Players will now be able to utilize battery charges to access additional resources, even after reaching their weekly limits, and interact with Selectable Core Skill Material Chests at the Outpost Logistics Shop.
In addition to these updates, HoYoverse has shared plans regarding the TV Mode Hollow Exploration. During this phase, players guide their proxy character through a maze filled with enemies, modifiers, and bonuses. While prior updates attempted to streamline this gameplay, further changes are coming, including a Fairy Auto Explore mode. This feature will allow the AI to autonomously collect unclaimed Observation Data and rewards from completed commissions. Additionally, a new Blitz Operation mode will let players engage in combat without the need to navigate the TV Board first.
One of the most significant alterations is scheduled for the 1.2 update, which will fundamentally replace the TV Mode within the Main Story and all future narratives. HoYoverse has announced that the TV Mode will be substituted with story stages, offering a new way to experience the game.
For side content and commissions, it appears that the TV Mode gameplay will remain intact. HoYoverse is clearly attentive to fan feedback, and it will be intriguing to see whether these modifications endure over time and potentially lead to further substantial gameplay changes in future updates.
