Exciting news for Pokémon GO players: the highly anticipated Shiny Galarian Legendary birds are set to join the game, and there’s a factor that could enhance your chances of capturing them. While there's no guarantee that everyone will snag a Shiny Galarian Zapdos, Moltres, or Articuno, being well-prepared could certainly improve your odds.
As of now, the Shiny Galarian Legendary birds are not yet available, but they will be introduced on October 4. Catching these Shiny variants will function similarly to finding their regular forms; players will need to use Daily Incense to have a shot at spotting them on the map. However, there is a significant difference when it comes to capturing the Shiny versions.
According to LeekDuck, Niantic has confirmed that once players encounter Shiny Galarian Moltres, Articuno, or Zapdos, these Pokémon will not flee. This feature allows players ample time to devise a strategy and take their throws. However, encountering a Shiny does not guarantee a catch; the catch rate for these birds will still be low. Players should come equipped with their best Poké Balls and any helpful berries to maximize their chances.
Catching the standard versions of the Galarian Legendary birds can be challenging due to their low catch rates and tendency to escape. This new mechanic may mean that players without a Master Ball will find it easier to catch a Shiny compared to a standard version, as they can utilize all available Poké Balls without fear of them running away. Moreover, players won’t need to rush to find these Pokémon; after their debut during the Galarian Expedition event, the trio will be available as potential spawns whenever a player uses Daily Incense.
However, getting these birds to appear remains a challenge. While players can only keep trying daily to encounter them, Pokémon GO is introducing a new Masterwork Research task that rewards players with a Master Ball among other prizes. This research will cost $7.99 USD and can be completed at any time. While many players suggest using a Master Ball for capturing Legendary birds, it’s wise to first try any Ultra Balls if you encounter a Shiny, as Master Balls are extremely rare in the game.
