In an impressive feat, a Red Dead Redemption 2 player has unearthed a hidden character after spending over 600 hours in Rockstar’s expansive open-world Western. While some players may already know about this particular NPC, it’s remarkable that even seasoned veterans have yet to encounter them.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is renowned for its incredible attention to detail, with Rockstar incorporating countless small elements that have taken years for players to discover. This depth benefits not just newcomers; many gamers who have been playing since launch still haven't experienced everything the game has to offer. In fact, one player reported finding a new character interaction after a staggering 1,400 hours of gameplay, showcasing the game’s lasting replayability.
Reddit user Markittos28 recently shared their exciting discovery of the Meditating Monk after their extensive playtime. This elusive character is hidden away in the mountains of Grizzlies East and only appears to players who approach around noon in-game. Due to this specific requirement, many players, even those who have achieved 100% completion, may never encounter the Meditating Monk. Interestingly, Arthur sketches the monk on his map upon meeting him, further emphasizing the character's hidden nature. Many players in the discussion admitted they struggled to get the monk to spawn, often missing the crucial midday window.
In the Reddit thread, players familiar with the Meditating Monk focused on discussing ways to make him break his vow of silence. The only way to achieve this is through aggression, with gamers sharing their various methods of eliminating him. One user humorously remarked, "I'm concerned about the number of people kicking, throwing, and blasting the monk down the mountain."
Currently, Rockstar is heavily focused on finalizing development for Grand Theft Auto 6, which suggests that any potential Red Dead Redemption 3 is still years away. Although the wait has already stretched six years, it’s not surprising given Rockstar’s meticulous approach to game development. On a brighter note, it seems that Red Dead Redemption fans on PC may finally get the chance to play the original game, offering some positive news for the franchise amid the anticipation.
