Players of Genshin Impact have uncovered a significant bug involving the newly introduced character, Kinich, who can unexpectedly trigger his Elemental Skill's damage twice against certain enemies. While bugs are not uncommon in Genshin Impact, they typically don't persist for long and are often harmless exploits that arise under specific conditions. However, some bugs have had a detrimental impact on players, especially in Co-op Mode.

A notable past bug involved Kaveh, who gained the ability to permanently erase objects from any player's world during Version 4.0. This exploit allowed malicious players to enter others' worlds and disrupt their progress. Fortunately, Kinich's bug poses no such threat; instead, it enables players to efficiently defeat specific bosses in the game.

The bug was highlighted by user Crossarot, who posted a video on Reddit showcasing Kinich battling the Setekh Wenut in the Sumeru desert. In the video, after activating his Elemental Skill as the boss attempts to submerge into the sand, viewers can see two instances of significant Dendro damage displayed on the screen. Normally, Kinich's Scalespiker Cannon should not strike twice with a single shot, yet in this case, it allows the Setekh Wenut to be defeated in mere seconds.

Kinich's Scalespiker Cannon Doubles Damage

When Kinich fires his Scalespiker Cannon, the shot behaves like a homing projectile. As the Setekh Wenut submerges, the shot hovers midair before dealing its damage. This mechanics aligns with other homing projectiles, such as Hyperbloom or Yelan's Elemental Burst. However, the unintended behavior of the Scalespiker Cannon delivering two instances of Dendro damage instead of one is the crux of the bug, effectively doubling Kinich's damage against certain foes. It remains uncertain whether this bug can be replicated in other scenarios.

HoYoverse is expected to address the issue soon, so players are encouraged to enjoy the benefits of the Scalespiker Cannon while they can. Traditionally, the developers also provide compensation to the community in the form of Primogems, which will be beneficial with the upcoming Version 5.1. Scheduled for release on October 9, 2024, this version will introduce new Event Banners featuring Xilonen, Chiori, Nahida, and Hu Tao.
