In a recent Q&A session, the developers behind Monopoly Go opened the floor to player questions, addressing a variety of concerns raised by the community. Dhruv, the Lead Product Manager, and Christian, the VP and Head of Product, along with other team members, took part in crafting responses to some of the most pressing issues.
While only a few questions were answered in this initial session, the developers promised more updates in the future to cover additional topics. Below, we highlight the key questions from Monopoly Go players and the team's responses.
One common frustration players voiced was the inability to trade more than two gold stickers during the Golden Blitz event. The development team explained that the restriction is intentional—it’s designed to enhance the value of gold stickers and increase participation in live events. The goal is to maintain excitement and balance within the game.
Additionally, the developers acknowledged that some players have been missing gold stickers and reassured the community that future Golden Blitz events would feature 5-star gold stickers in the Monopoly Games Album, giving more opportunities to complete collections.
Many players have reported inconsistent frame rates, with FPS fluctuating between 30 and 60, making gameplay feel less smooth. The developers confirmed that they are actively working on optimizing performance. Immediate fixes are being rolled out, and a long-term plan is underway to ensure a stable and enjoyable experience across all devices.
A frequently asked question was whether items like shields, emojis, or tokens could be traded between players. The development team is considering ways to enhance the game’s social and cosmetic features, but for now, there are no plans to allow trading of these items. They want players to feel a sense of accomplishment from earning these special rewards through gameplay.
Some players expressed interest in keeping certain boards they enjoy playing on as they advance through Monopoly Go. The development team appreciated this feedback and hinted at potential changes to the board progression system in future updates, suggesting that players might soon have more control over their board choices.
Currently, players can only send five cards per day to their friends. A player named Mr. Raz T requested an increase to this limit, but the developers declined. They explained that the cap ensures a balanced trading and collection system while also preventing any exploitation or unfair advantages.
Curious about how Monopoly Go boards get their names? The developers revealed that the naming process starts early during creative development. Themes are brainstormed around real-world locations like Sydney and Hong Kong, as well as fictional in-game settings like Mr. M’s Mansion or the Dice Factory. The goal is to make the board names fun, relatable, and engaging for players.
The final names go through feedback from the design team and a cultural review by the legal department before being locked in during localization, where they’re adapted for a global audience.
Many players have requested a feature that allows easier searching through stickers for trading. The development team confirmed that they’re working on adding a search bar to the sticker trading screen, making it more convenient for players to locate specific stickers.
Will there be customizable tokens from other Monopoly versions?
A player named DBLER0 asked about bringing back classic Monopoly tokens or adding customization options. Lead Product Manager Diego shared that the team is considering reintroducing some of the beloved tokens from past Monopoly games to add a nostalgic touch to Monopoly Go.
Players have asked whether wild cards could be saved for use later in the game, especially to complete difficult sticker sets. The developers responded that, at present, there are no plans to allow this. However, they reassured players that wild cards would be made available more frequently during events toward the end of an album, offering additional chances to complete collections. The team also teased a new sticker pack design that players can look forward to, with more information to be revealed soon.
