Niantic has revealed that Pokémon GO’s next Research Day event will take place on September 22, featuring Normal/Psychic-type Oranguru and Fighting-type Passimian. Similar to previous Timed Research events, players can complete Field Research tasks to earn rewards and increase their chances of encountering rare Pokémon, including possible Shiny variants.

As part of the ongoing “Max Out” season, which kicked off on September 10 and introduced Dynamax Pokémon into the game, this event continues the theme of Galar region Pokémon and Dynamax forms. The season runs until December 3 and includes a lineup of limited-time events, such as Community Days and the upcoming Psychic Spectacular. One of the early highlights of the Max Out season, this Research Day will focus on primate-themed Pokémon from past events.

Event Details: Oranguru and Passimian Research Day

Scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, the Oranguru and Passimian Research Day gives players a chance to spin Photo Discs at PokéStops to receive new Field Research tasks. Completing these tasks will reward players with encounters with Oranguru and Passimian. For the first time in Pokémon GO, there’s also a chance to encounter a Shiny Passimian. Additionally, certain wild Pokémon like Mankey, Aipom, Slakoth, Chimchar, and Grookey will spawn more frequently during the event, increasing the odds of finding their Shiny forms as well.
