In Genshin Impact's 5.0 update, players are introduced to Natlan, a land teeming with dragon-like creatures called Saurians who have adapted to coexist with humanity. These charming creatures can be found throughout Natlan, though not all of them are friendly. Luckily, HoYoverse anticipated the fans’ love for Saurians and gave players the opportunity to have one as a companion, much like Paimon.
As you journey through Natlan, you'll notice mystical golden pillars while traveling towards the Children of Echoes tribe. These pillars can be found by heading east from the first teleport point in Natlan. Approaching these ruins will transport you to a mysterious place, triggering the Lost in the Woods quest, which is part of the larger Between Pledge and Forgettance questline.
While exploring Tequemecan Valley, you can also uncover a hidden Rest Area and unlock the "Maybe This Is A Good Place To Camp?" achievement. This guide will help you find the Rest Area in Natlan.
To access Natlan's Rest Area, you first need to obtain a Saurian companion by completing the Lost in the Woods quest. This quest begins when you interact with the spectral ruins located west of Natlan's first teleport point. Upon interacting, you'll be transported to an unknown area where you must rescue a Saurian under attack by Rift Hounds. After defeating them, continue progressing through the Lost in the Woods quest to officially receive your own Saurian companion, which you can name.
Once you've befriended your Saurian, you can set out to find the Rest Area. The Rest Area is hidden near a river west of Tepeacac Rise, in Tequemecan Valley. To reach it, head to the Ancient Tower domain, which is the weapon ascension material domain for Natlan. From there, make your way toward the river to the east.
At the mouth of the river, you'll find another set of golden spectral pillars, marked by a glowing symbol in front of them. This is the entrance to the Rest Area. Simply approach the pillars and select the Touch option to be teleported inside.
Upon entering the Rest Area, you will automatically unlock the Maybe This Is A Good Place To Camp? achievement. Interestingly, this peaceful haven is the same location where you initially encountered your Saurian companion.
Once inside, interacting with your Saurian will also unlock the Gifts and Gifts in Return quest, one of several quests centered around your Saurian pet. Completing this quest will provide additional insight into your new companion, and you’ll earn a modest amount of Primogems as a reward. The Rest Area serves as a tranquil location where you can visit your Saurian companion anytime you wish.
By following this guide, you’ll not only unlock an adorable companion but also discover one of the hidden treasures of Natlan while earning a valuable in-game achievement.
