A trusted source within the Genshin Impact community has hinted at the ability kit for Citlali, an upcoming 4-Star Cryo Catalyst user. According to the leak, Citlali’s abilities bear a striking resemblance to those of Layla. In Genshin Impact, each element is designed to work in harmony with others, but not all playstyles receive the same level of support.
One of the most notable examples is Eula, a 5-Star Cryo Claymore character who focuses on physical damage. Unlike elemental reaction-based teams or even mono-Geo setups, physical damage currently lacks the support needed to compete with the game's meta.
While most physical damage characters are Cryo due to the Superconduct reaction, Cryo characters in general have seen a decline in popularity, especially with the rise of Hyperbloom teams in Sumeru. For Cryo enthusiasts, Wriothesley was a refreshing addition, not only as the first Cryo Catalyst user but also for his smooth rotation that leverages Fontaine's hit point fluctuation mechanic.
Following Wriothesley, Charlotte was introduced in Version 4.2 as the second Cryo Catalyst, serving as a dedicated healer for Furina. With Xilonen set to elevate Geo characters to new heights in the Natlan era, the community is curious to see what Citlali will contribute to the Cryo element.
According to the leak by FouL, Citlali is expected to play the role of a Shield Support character, with an Elemental Burst that applies Cryo even when she is off-field. Her Elemental Skill is said to generate an elemental shield, drawing clear comparisons to Layla. Given how rare 5-Star Shield Support characters are in Genshin Impact, Citlali’s status as a 4-Star character seems all but certain.
While her abilities may overlap with Layla’s, Citlali has two significant advantages. Firstly, as a Catalyst user, she can wield Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers. Secondly, being a Natlan character allows her to benefit from the new Artifact Set introduced in Genshin Impact Version 5.0.
Citlali is anticipated to debut in Version 5.3, likely sharing an Event Banner with Mavuika. Players can expect to get a full preview of Citlali's abilities once beta testing begins in late November 2024. As a member of the Mictlan Tribe of Natlan, also known as the Masters of the Night Wind, Citlali will play a key role in the upcoming map expansion, making her an intriguing addition to the roster.
