A Genshin Impact player has recently compiled a list of nine characters who have yet to make an appearance during the Fontaine era. While Teyvat's enchanting world has captivated many, the heart of Genshin Impact lies in its diverse and beloved characters. The game initially launched with 21 playable characters (excluding the Traveler) in Version 1.0. Since then, the roster has expanded significantly, now including seven nations and a total of 88 characters.
As the game's character lineup has more than tripled over the years, it's unsurprising that a challenge has emerged for the developers at HoYoverse: not every character can be featured prominently. Even with Story Quests, Hangout Events, and major Flagship Events providing opportunities for character cameos, it's impossible to spotlight everyone from each nation’s roster.
A Genshin Impact fan, Elira_Eclipse, shared with the community a list of nine characters who have been entirely absent from the Fontaine era, whether in permanent content or limited-time events. Interestingly, both Baizhu and Kazuha have been missing since Version 3.6 and Version 3.7, respectively, despite appearing on Event Banners multiple times since. A similar situation applies to Yelan, who was highlighted in both Version 4.0 and Version 4.8.
Character | Last Appearance |
Yelan | Version 3.4 |
Yun Jin | Version 3.7 |
Xinyan | Version 3.4 |
Bennett | Version 3.5 |
Baizhu | Version 3.6 |
Ningguang | Version 3.7 |
Kazuha | Version 3.7 |
Sara | Version 3.7 |
Barbara | Version 3.8 |
With the next major event in Genshin Impact expected to occur during the Sabzeruz Festival in Sumeru, it’s likely that this list of absent characters will remain unchanged until at least late November 2024. The Liyue characters, such as Yelan and Baizhu, might reappear during the Lantern Rite festival in 2025. However, predicting the return of characters like Barbara and Kujou Sara is more challenging. Many players have voiced concerns that Kujou Sara is the most overlooked character in Genshin Impact, often requesting HoYoverse to create a Hangout event for the respected tengu general.
On the other hand, the community is buzzing with excitement over the upcoming addition of Mavuika and Xilonen to the Genshin Impact roster. These two characters from Natlan are anticipated to bring powerful abilities to a variety of team compositions. Mavuika is set to debut in Version 5.3, while Xilonen will headline the first half of the Event Banners in Version 5.1 alongside Chiori.
With no changes to her ability kit or stats, Xilonen is expected to generate significant interest among players, especially those who do not rely heavily on Dendro or Anemo teams in the Spiral Abyss. Version 5.1 is slated for release on October 9, 2024.
As Genshin Impact continues to expand, the anticipation for the return of familiar faces and the introduction of new characters keeps the community engaged and excited for what’s to come.
