In the ever-evolving world of Overwatch 2, players are voicing strong concerns about the current state of Sombra, calling for a nerf to address what they see as an imbalance in her power. Known for her stealth and hacking capabilities, Sombra has recently become a focal point of criticism following updates that have significantly enhanced her effectiveness.
Sombra, a DPS hero, excels at disrupting opponents with her invisibility, teleportation, and hacking abilities. Designed to create opportunities for her team by targeting isolated or vulnerable enemies, Sombra has always been a formidable presence. However, recent changes associated with Overwatch 2 Season 12 have increased her damage output and movement speed, making her an even more formidable adversary on the battlefield.
The Overwatch 2 community has reacted strongly to these updates. Many players have taken to Reddit to express their frustration, with some describing the experience of playing against Sombra as “unfun,” even if they main the character themselves. Complaints center on the difficulty of countering Sombra’s constant presence and her ability to use stealth to surprise players at their spawn points. These issues have intensified following the Season 12 updates, leading to widespread calls for adjustments.
Even if Blizzard were to address the current concerns by reversing recent changes, the debate over Sombra’s power level may continue. While some Overwatch 2 heroes can counter Sombra, detecting her during her Stealth ability and managing her hacked health packs remain challenges. Players have noted that while defeating Sombra can be straightforward once she’s spotted, the experience of playing against her is less enjoyable compared to other heroes.
Blizzard has yet to comment on the specific requests for a Sombra nerf. However, the company is known for its commitment to maintaining game balance through regular updates. Following the release of Season 12, Blizzard introduced new technologies that led to an 8% decrease in one-sided matches, according to systems designer Gavin Winter. Future updates are expected to continue refining the game, with a focus on balance changes and quality-of-life improvements to enhance the overall experience for Overwatch 2 players.
