Following the release of Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 Tricky Trials update, Mojang Studios has been diligently working on smaller updates to refine and enhance the new features. The latest update, 1.21.2, is set to be more substantial than its predecessor, introducing several new features and optimizations. Although a specific release date for this update has not been announced, here's what players can expect:
One of the standout additions in the 1.21.2 update is the new Reduce FPS feature. This optimization tool automatically lowers the game's frames per second (FPS) when Minecraft is inactive or minimized. Players can choose between these two options in the video settings. This feature is particularly useful for conserving device resources when you're AFK (away from keyboard) or using your device for other tasks while the game is minimized.
The 1.21.2 update also brings two new banner patterns, bridging the gap between Minecraft Java and Bedrock Editions. These patterns, previously exclusive to Bedrock, are now available in Java Edition:
- Field-Masoned Banner Pattern: Crafted using a piece of paper and a block of brick.
- Bordure Indented Banner Pattern: Created by substituting the block of brick with a vine.
These patterns have been part of Bedrock Edition since 2019 and are now making their debut in Java Edition.
For players who frequently craft the same items in bulk, the update introduces Fast Crafting. This feature simplifies the crafting process:
- Select a crafting recipe from the green book at the crafting table.
- Place the initial few items by clicking on them.
- Press the space bar to automatically fill the crafting slots with the same ingredients repeatedly.
This makes bulk crafting more efficient and less tedious.
The 1.21.2 update includes several smaller quality-of-life enhancements:
- New icons for banner patterns.
- Bundles, which remain under experimental status, will receive sound and model updates.
- Breeze no longer has a minimum attack distance.
- Trial chamber chests are being replaced with hoppers and barrels.
- Various changes to item rarity.
These improvements aim to enhance the overall gameplay experience and provide players with more options and better functionality.
