More than two decades after its original release, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask has surprised fans with the discovery of a hidden credits screen. This newly uncovered secret has left long-time Zelda enthusiasts amazed, especially given how long it remained hidden in the game.
Majora’s Mask is still celebrated today as the darker, more mysterious successor to Ocarina of Time. While a remastered version of the game was released for the Nintendo 3DS, this particular discovery pertains to the original game when it was re-released on the Nintendo GameCube.
Twitter user yanis4224 recently shared that this hidden credits screen was found on the GameCube version of Majora’s Mask, which was included in The Legend of Zelda: Collector’s Edition, a compilation bundled with certain GameCube units. To access this secret, players must input a specific sequence of button presses, revealing a tribute to the game's engineering team responsible for adapting the N64 classic to run on the GameCube. The screen credits developers Robert Champagne, David Devaty, Rory Johnston, Stephen Lee, YoonJoon Lee, and Max Szlagor for their work on creating the N64 emulator.
For those who own a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Collector’s Edition and a functioning GameCube or Wii, accessing this hidden credits screen is surprisingly straightforward. The code can be entered at nearly any point in the game where players have control of Link. It involves a sequence that’s somewhat reminiscent of the classic Konami Code, though with a few added twists. To unlock the secret, start the game and enter the following combination while holding down the L, R, and Z buttons:
- D-Pad up
- D-Pad up
- D-Pad down
- D-Pad down
- D-Pad left
- D-Pad right

- D-Pad right
- X
- Y

Once you've successfully entered the code, the hidden credits screen should appear. There’s no interactive content or special cutscenes to enjoy here—just a simple black background acknowledging the team that made it possible to experience these classic Zelda adventures on the GameCube.
While it’s unclear why this tribute was hidden behind such a complicated code, giving credit to the developers who handled the port is a nice touch. Including these names in the regular end credits would have been a more direct way to honor their efforts, but the fact that this Easter egg was uncovered two decades later brings well-deserved recognition to the team.
