In almost every installment of The Legend of Zelda, players can typically find one or more Great Fairies that provide various boons to the protagonist. For instance, in The Wind Waker, these enchanting beings grant upgrades to wallets and item capacities, while in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, they offer clothing enhancements.
In Echoes of Wisdom, the Great Fairy offers a unique advantage: she allows Zelda to equip additional Accessories. By locating this Great Fairy early on and utilizing her services whenever you have enough Rupees, players can maximize their Accessory slots and even embark on an exciting side quest offered by the Great Fairy herself.
When you approach the Great Fairy, she presents the opportunity to elevate Zelda's Style by expanding her total Accessory slots.
While some outfits grant passive bonuses—like the ability to converse with cats—Accessories deliver some of the best combat enhancements available. With increased slots, you can equip a variety of Accessories, allowing you to benefit from multiple bonuses simultaneously.
Additionally, you can refill your empty Fairy Bottles at the Great Fairy's location, where two Fairies appear on either side of the room each time you enter.
At the game's start, Zelda can only wear one Accessory. However, through the Great Fairy system, you can upgrade your Accessory slots to a maximum of five.
Accessory Upgrade Costs:
- Upgrade to 2 slots: 100 Rupees
- Upgrade to 3 slots: 300 Rupees
- Upgrade to 4 slots: 500 Rupees
- Upgrade to 5 slots: 1000 Rupees
In total, you will need 1900 Rupees to fully unlock all five Accessory slots. Once you've achieved the final upgrade, the Great Fairy will offer Zelda a special quest, which rewards you with the Might Bell accessory. This item indicates when you are near a Might Crystal upgrade material scattered throughout the world.
To find the Great Fairy, you'll need to clear the Suthorn Ruins dungeon at the end of the first area.
When prompted to choose between heading to Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters, opt for the Jabul Waters region. However, make sure to detour south once you reach Lake Hylia.
You may encounter an NPC on the beach who wonders about the Great Fairy's whereabouts, blissfully unaware of her proximity.
The Great Fairy is actually located within a cave on an island at the center of Lake Hylia. There are no obstacles preventing you from entering this cave, so be sure to touch the Waypoint just outside to facilitate quick returns in the future.
