Valve has rolled out a new update for Deadlock, addressing a critical bug that affected the in-game shop functionality. This update not only fixes this major issue but also implements several adjustments to enhance the game's overall stability and performance.

Initially announced in August, Deadlock had already generated buzz since May when it entered an invite-only alpha on Steam. Currently, access to the closed beta remains limited to players who receive invitations from existing participants.

Despite this restricted access, Deadlock is under active development, with frequent updates aimed at improving the player experience. A noteworthy update in mid-September introduced new features such as 24/7 matchmaking and comprehensive behavior tracking. This patch also added a new minimap, implemented balance changes, and addressed various bugs and performance issues to refine gameplay.

The latest Deadlock update addresses several in-game problems, particularly a serious bug affecting the shop system. Previously, players could shoot at shop locations scattered across the map, leading to unintended consequences that granted certain characters unfair advantages. For example, Wraith could exploit this glitch to gain card charges, while lifesteal effects would erroneously activate when attacking shops. The recent update effectively fixes these exploits, restoring fairness to the gameplay.

Additional Adjustments in the September 29 Update

Beyond resolving shop-related issues, the September 29 update introduces several enhancements: the speed of heroes on outer ziplines has been increased by 20% compared to those on inner lanes. Additionally, the initial respawn time has been reduced from 12 seconds to 8 seconds. Finally, when using Mirage’s Traveler to teleport in Deadlock, the Urn that rewards players and their team with spirits will now drop, further enriching the gameplay experience.

As Valve continues to fine-tune Deadlock, players can look forward to future features and fixes in the pipeline. Notably, the developers have adopted a creative approach to combating cheating, allowing players to choose between immediately banning offenders to end the match or transforming them into frogs for the remainder of the game before issuing a ban.
