A frustrating bug in Pokémon GO has left players unable to catch one of the game’s rarest Pokémon, PhD Pikachu. Despite being tied to a guaranteed encounter through a significant in-game achievement (referred to as Medals), players report that every attempt to capture this elusive Pokémon fails, with PhD Pikachu fleeing as soon as a Poké Ball is thrown.
PhD Pikachu has long been considered one of the toughest Pokémon to obtain, making this bug all the more frustrating for dedicated players. Many have been working hard toward unlocking the achievement, only to find that they are unable to catch the Pokémon when it appears.
The introduction of PokeStop Showcases during Pokémon GO’s 7th Anniversary Event quickly became a hit with players. These Showcases provide an exciting way for trainers to display their rare and unique Pokémon, competing for top spots and earning valuable rewards in the process. However, competition can be fierce, with many players vying for the highest rankings.
Unfortunately, a bug has now cast a shadow over this feature, adding to the challenge and frustration of participating in PokeStop Showcases. The glitch affecting PhD Pikachu is tied directly to these events, dampening the experience for players who are trying to showcase and catch this rare Pokémon.
A recent post on the Pokémon GO subreddit by user FitzRigo18 brought attention to this issue, highlighting the ongoing frustrations of players. According to FitzRigo18, every time they attempt to catch PhD Pikachu, the Pokémon escapes without fail. To make matters worse, any berries or Poké Balls used in the encounter are lost, with no chance of capturing the Pokémon due to the bug.
FitzRigo18 expressed their disappointment, having eagerly anticipated the opportunity to catch this rare Pokémon. The achievement tied to PhD Pikachu is already a significant challenge, so encountering this game-breaking glitch has left many players disheartened.
PhD Pikachu is one of the rarest and most difficult Pokémon to obtain in Pokémon GO, requiring players to win 100 PokeStop Showcases. Reaching this milestone takes considerable time and effort, as PokeStop Showcases only occur on specific days of the week, and trainers must outperform others to secure victories.
Some players have chosen to delay completing the achievement until the bug is resolved, while others note that the encounter with PhD Pikachu doesn’t disappear, giving them hope that they can eventually catch it. Many fans have already contacted Niantic’s support team, hoping for a fix in an upcoming update.
As the community eagerly awaits a solution, players are hopeful that Niantic will address this bug soon, ensuring that all trainers have a fair chance to catch PhD Pikachu. Until then, many fans will continue holding out for their hard-earned rewards, hoping the issue is resolved in the next Pokémon GO update.
