AyurVaani is a digital companion to classical Ayurvedic literature. AyurVaani collects Samhitas, Granthas and Nighantus in a compact, searchable format. AyurVaani presents original Sanskrit shlokas with clear English translations for students, clinicians and researchers, all within a focused, readable interface designed for study and reference.
This app brings together authoritative Ayurvedic texts such as Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya, Ashtanga Sangraha, Bhavaprakasha, Madhava Nidana and Sharangadhara Samhita, along with selected Nighantus. The material is organized to respect traditional pedagogy: Grantha → Sthana → Chapter → Shloka. Every verse is displayed in the original Sanskrit script with lineation appropriate for citation, paired with a close, academically oriented English translation to aid comprehension and cross-reference.
Search and discovery are central to the experience. Full-text search across the corpus lets you locate specific shlokas, topics, or technical terms quickly; search filters refine results by Grantha or Sthana. Navigation follows a predictable hierarchy so users can drill down from a text to the exact shloka, or jump back out to review surrounding context. Controls are simple and touch-friendly: tap to open a passage, swipe to move between adjacent chapters, and use on-screen controls to adjust font size or toggle between Sanskrit and translation views. Long-press actions allow quick bookmarking, copying, or sharing of a single verse for academic citation or classroom use.
AyurVaani supports study workflows rather than game-like progression. You can mark favorites and create a reading queue to structure revision sessions. Bookmarks act as study checkpoints and a reading history tracks where you left off in each Grantha. These lightweight progression aids help BAMS students and practitioners revisit difficult sections, compile verses for clinical reference, and prepare for exams with deliberate, repeatable study cycles. The app also accepts edit suggestions from users to improve translations and references, creating an evolving, community-informed resource while preserving source authenticity.
Presentation emphasizes legibility and fidelity to source material. Sanskrit shlokas are rendered with classical spacing and diacritics when appropriate; translations use clear, academic English. Interface customization includes adjustable font sizes, line spacing and a compact reading mode that minimizes distractions for longer study sessions. A high-contrast theme and support for larger type improve accessibility for users with visual needs. The app is designed to work smoothly on a range of Android devices, and common accessibility features such as screen reader compatibility have been considered so text can be navigated by assistive tools.
The app aims for fast, responsive performance: indexed text and optimized queries make searches return results with low latency, and local caching keeps recently viewed passages available for quick re-open. While the collection is delivered in a compact package to minimize storage footprint, core texts are organized so that essential passages remain accessible even when network connectivity is limited. The reading experience is intended to feel calm and focused, without intrusive ads or animations that distract from study.
AyurVaani is useful in multiple contexts: academic study, clinical consultation, and scholarly research. Students can follow the traditional structural order used in classrooms; practitioners can quickly reference diagnostic or therapeutic verses in clinic settings; researchers can use precise verse citations and translations when compiling notes or preparing papers. Citation-friendly formatting and consistent translation conventions make it practical to reference passages in academic writing and presentations.
The library continues to expand and not every classical Grantha is included yet. Current language support emphasizes original Sanskrit with English translation, and translations into other regional languages are not yet available. The development roadmap focuses on increasing corpus coverage, refining translations through community feedback, and improving accessibility options rather than adding unrelated social or multiplayer features. Users are encouraged to suggest additions or corrections via the in-app suggestion tool to help prioritize future content.
For students preparing for exams, teachers building course material, clinicians consulting on cases, and researchers compiling references, AyurVaani offers a single, organized repository of foundational Ayurvedic literature. Its straightforward controls, clear typographic presentation, and study-focused features support repeated reading and reliable citation while keeping the source material intact and easy to navigate.
