Lloyds Bank Smart ID lets you prove who you are quickly and securely from your phone, whether you need to verify your age, confirm your name or share an address for online checks. The app stores encrypted ID documents on your device, lets you share only the specific details asked for, and carries a government-backed PASS hologram for recognised age checks at participating venues. It can also help with right-to-work verifications, in-person ID checks at Post Offices and other businesses, and with tracking passport and driving licence expiry dates.

Key Features

Lloyds Bank Smart ID lets you securely store government ID documents such as passports and driving licences and receive expiry reminders. You can prove your age or identity for online checks like right-to-work without sharing unnecessary data, and share verified details directly with businesses or other Smart ID users. Access protection uses face-scan verification and a five-digit PIN to keep your Smart ID protected.

Advantages

The app uses encrypted on-device storage so verified details remain under your control and are not readable by third parties. You choose which pieces of information to share so only the minimum necessary data is revealed for each check. Lloyds Bank Smart ID does not require a bank account to register and supports common identity workflows used by UK businesses to make in-person and online checks quicker.

Disadvantages

You cannot use Smart ID to access Lloyds Bank mobile banking or manage banking products. Smart ID cannot be used to purchase alcohol yet, even where age verification is accepted. The app requires Android 9.0 or later and will not run on beta operating system versions or on devices that do not support standard Android app services.

Lloyds Bank selected Yoti Ltd to provide the identity technology and customer support behind Smart ID; Yoti handles verification, data security and user support while Lloyds Bank provides the service framing and branding.

Version Information

This is an early release of Lloyds Bank Smart ID with ongoing improvements planned; the app is compatible with Android 9.0 and above and will gain broader acceptance and features over time as more businesses integrate Smart ID.
