Introduction

Medical ID is a lifesaving app that allows users to create and access medical profiles directly from their device's lock screen. In case of an emergency, this feature provides crucial information like allergies, blood type, and emergency contacts to first responders and healthcare professionals. The app's accessibility service enables a widget on the lock screen for quick access, making it extremely beneficial for individuals with disabilities and first responders during emergencies. While the free version includes essential features, upgrading to the premium version unlocks additional benefits and supports ongoing app development. Don't hesitate to reach out for any inquiries or assistance with app translation.

Features of Medical ID:

- Quick and easy access to important medical information from the lock screen.

Never worry about first responders or healthcare professionals not having access to vital information in an emergency situation. With the Medical ID widget on your lock screen, crucial details such as allergies, blood type, and emergency contacts are readily available.

- Ability to share your location with emergency contacts for 24 hours.

Even when the app is not in use, you can ensure your loved ones know your whereabouts in case of an emergency. This feature adds an extra layer of safety and peace of mind for both you and your designated emergency contacts.

- Complimentary basic version with the option to upgrade to premium for more features.

Enjoy all the essential features of the app at no cost. If you decide to upgrade to the premium version, you will unlock additional functionalities and show your support for the continuous improvement of the app.

- Accessibility service benefits individuals with disabilities and first responders.

The accessibility service within the app not only facilitates quick access to medical information from the lock screen but also aids individuals with disabilities in emergencies. First responders can efficiently gather critical details to provide appropriate care.

FAQs:

- What are the differences between the free and premium version?

While the free version includes all the essential features to serve its primary purpose, the premium version offers additional functionalities such as lock screen widget customization, data backup, and support for multiple profiles. Upgrading to the premium version also contributes to the ongoing development and maintenance of the app.

- How to define ICE contacts?

By creating profiles within the app, you can fill in the Medical Notes section with relevant information, including ICE (In Case of Emergency) contacts. Simply start typing the contact's name, and a matching selection will appear for you to link with. This enables anyone viewing your profile on the lock screen to easily reach your emergency contacts without unlocking your device.

- The lock screen widget disappears after some time.

In some cases, certain Android versions may automatically optimize background apps, causing the widget to disappear. To resolve this issue, adjust your device settings to disable battery optimizations for the Medical ID app. Additionally, ensure that the Medical ID accessibility service is enabled in the app settings for uninterrupted usage.

Conclusion:

With Medical ID, you can have peace of mind knowing that your critical medical information is easily accessible and shareable in case of emergencies. The app's combination of practical features, accessibility services, and upgrade options make it a valuable tool for individuals seeking a reliable and efficient way to store and access vital health information whenever needed. • Great app! I've thankfully never had to use it in an emergency context but it has been very useful for giving a full list of my conditions and meds to medical staff who require it. They always seem to appreciate having the list clearly in front of them. I wonder though if it would be possible to add a feature that lets you add new meds by scanning the bar code? The app works great without it but it would be handy.

  • I like the ability to have my medical information available in case I am disabled. Fortunately I have not had to rely on it yet. OnOne recommendation would be to have a button to push to display the information. Having to push the edit button to display is not intuitive and could slightly delay someone obtaining the needed information.

  • One thing this developer doesn't seem to understand is the KISS principle. Far too complicated to set up and get to work properly. Needs a proper rethink on KISS principles. Otherwise it is proberly a good app. I would like to see the option for med identities to be in a different text colour to other info so first aiders can concentrate quickly on that. Will uninstall as I cannot get the lock screen widget to show at all in spite of the video demo.

  • I don't typically review apps but this one is brilliant. I have a seizure disorder and become non-verbal and confused following episodes. Multiple times now I've been able to get EMS to load this app with my information, giving me a way to communicate important information about my condition with them. I would however appreciate if this app could be made more customizable. It would be helpful for me to have a text box before conditions and allergies that I could list my seizure protocol in. Often people start reading all of the preceding info when I just need them to read the instructions. Also, the app can drain the battery faster than it should. This is outweighed by it's benefits (hence 5 stars) but I would appreciate if it could be looked into for a future update.

  • I also get 6855 when I try to phone the emergency contacts listed in the free version of the app. It used to work, so I don't know what has happened! I'm on a Samsung Android phone, running Android version 10. When I enter the contact names, the app correctly shows them as linked to contacts, and underlines them, but when I try to phone the numbers associated with the contacts,I get 6855. Any suggestions?

  • Good for keeping information easily accessible by those who want to help you, and the use of the widget on the lock screen is certainly better than a notification that might easily be buried in other notifications and therefore too difficult to find. However, the additional buttons (Nearby Hospitals in particular) are hamstrung by whatever security settings are in place. Tapping that button on my phone presents a lock screen where a PIN or fingerprint is required.
