The Shrapnel Souvenir mod is a powerful tool in Once Human, enhancing the Shrapnel effect to deliver multiple damage instances with a single bullet. To fully exploit this mod and optimize your builds, you’ll need to acquire it through a few methods. Here’s a guide on how to get your hands on the Shrapnel Souvenir.

There are several effective strategies to obtain the Shrapnel Souvenir mod:
1. Defeat the Shadow Hound Boss
The Shadow Hound boss in Chalk Peak is a prime target for farming mods. For the best chances of acquiring gold-tier mods, including Shrapnel Souvenir, tackle this boss on Hard or Pro difficulty. Equip your Controllers to boost loot drops from chests and enhance your chances of getting the mod you want.
2. Participate in Prime Wars
Engaging in Prime Wars can also yield valuable mods. These events typically reward mods with specific attributes like Crit DMG or Weakspot DMG. If you secure a Shrapnel Souvenir here, it’s likely to have strong stats tailored to your desired build.
3. Open Weapon Crates
Weapon Crates scattered across locations like Red Sands, Blackheart, or within Once Human’s Securement Silos can occasionally contain the Shrapnel Souvenir mod. Given the vast selection of items these crates offer, the odds of finding a specific mod are relatively low, but it's worth checking these crates during your explorations.

If you’re seeking a Shrapnel Souvenir with particular substats, Mod Conversion is your best bet. This feature allows you to trade in six unwanted mods for a single new mod of the same rarity, with the option to select the mod you want. Here’s how to use it:
1. Navigate to the Mods menu.
2. Click on the Mod Conversion button located on the right side of the screen.
3. Select Shrapnel Souvenir from the mod list.
4. Choose six mods to use as fodder.
5. Hit the Exchange button (provided you have enough Energy Links) to add the new mod to your inventory.
The Shrapnel Souvenir mod restores one bullet to your magazine each time Shrapnel hits a weak spot. To clarify, Shrapnel effects can target enemy weak spots only if the initial bullet hits another part of the enemy’s body. For instance, to direct Shrapnel hits to an enemy’s head, you must first hit their chest or limbs. This mod is particularly synergistic with the Fateful Strike mod, which prevents direct weak spot damage.

Instead of boosting damage output, Shrapnel Souvenir extends your magazine size, effectively reducing downtime between reloads. While you will eventually deplete your bullets if Shrapnel misses weak spots, this mod significantly enhances the magazine capacity of weapons like the SOCR Last Valor.
Armed with this knowledge, you can now strategically farm or convert for the Shrapnel Souvenir mod and maximize your effectiveness in Once Human.
