Coffee Stain Studios has rolled out a new hotfix for Satisfactory, addressing several bugs and improving multiplayer and dedicated server stability. While this update might not be large in scale, it sets the stage for more significant updates in the near future by enhancing the game’s overall performance.

Since its early access launch in 2019, Satisfactory has evolved into an expansive open-world factory-building game set on an alien planet. Players engage in constructing massive factories, automating production, and exploring diverse biomes while contending with hostile creatures. With options for both solo play and cooperative multiplayer, the game offers a complex resource and logistics management system that appeals to those who relish a challenge.

The September 2024 update focuses on fixing specific issues such as malfunctioning Coal Generators and crashes associated with using the chainsaw on particular foliage. Although some plants remain unremovable with the chainsaw, players can now use the Nobelisk for clearing these obstructions.

Additionally, the update addresses various crashes linked to multiplayer sessions, enhancing stability during cooperative gameplay. The removal of the high-resolution screenshot feature from the photo mode, which had caused crashes, also contributes to a smoother experience.

Despite Satisfactory’s overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam, the update targets several user experience improvements. A persistent AMD driver pop-up issue has been resolved, and a new tooltip has been added to the language selection menu. Community-driven translations, still a work in progress for some languages, will be incorporated as they are completed. Players interested in contributing to these translations are encouraged to join the game’s Discord server.

Dedicated servers have also seen improvements, with a fix ensuring the Dedicated Server Manager correctly binds to the appropriate network address, resolving previous setup issues.

In a message to players, the Satisfactory development team explained that this hotfix was essential for addressing significant gameplay issues. They also noted that many team members would be taking a short break, urging players to consult the Known Issues section for solutions to remaining bugs, such as installation problems and mod compatibility with version 1.0. The team reassured players that more updates are on the horizon.

With the release of version 1.0, Satisfactory has expanded its content, though new issues have emerged. This latest update is another step toward refining the game's performance, ensuring players can continue their building and exploration adventures without interruption.

Known Issues

- Installation: If version 1.0 does not download, exit Steam or EGS launcher completely, verify the game files, and try downloading again.

- Installation (Steam): If an .exe error occurs when launching the game, restart Steam and verify the game files.

- Languages: Missing languages are due to incomplete community translations. Officially supported languages are English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified & Traditional Chinese. Community translations are updated as they become available.

- Language Switching: If unable to switch languages, rename the %LOCALAPPDATA%FactoryGameSavedConfig folder to %LOCALAPPDATA%FactoryGameSavedOld_Config and relaunch the game.

- Plugin Error: Mods are currently incompatible with version 1.0. Disable or remove mods until they are updated.

- Shader Cache Crash: For shader compilation failures, force DirectX 11 by using the launch command: -dx11.

- Early Access Rewards (Epic Games): Rewards for Early Access supporters, including a new Helmet, Build Gun, and Trinket, may not appear on the EGS version of Satisfactory 1.0. The issue is being addressed.

- White Static Effect (AMD Radeon 5000 Series GPUs): This issue, likely caused by faulty AMD GPU drivers, can be mitigated by disabling upscaling or adjusting FSR settings. Forcing DirectX 11 may also help.

- Mouse Sensitivity with V-Sync: If experiencing sluggish mouse movement with V-Sync enabled, consider turning off V-Sync for improved control.

- Tier 2 Start on Dedicated Servers: Players currently start at tier 2 on Dedicated Servers, bypassing tier 1. The team is investigating adjustments to limit skipped content to the intro sequence only (tier 0) and possibly allowing tier 0 gameplay on Dedicated Servers.
