Roger Clark, widely recognized for his portrayal of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, recently shared a notable regret from his time working on Rockstar Games' acclaimed Wild West epic. Despite Red Dead Redemption 2 being celebrated as a masterful prequel, enriching the lore of the original game and delving deep into John Marston's backstory, Clark has reflected on a small but significant issue.

In a recent Q&A session, Clark revealed his disappointment over mispronouncing the name of one of the game’s notorious antagonists. While the O'Driscoll gang, led by the infamous Colm O'Driscoll, is a constant presence in the game, Clark noted that he regretted his repeated mispronunciation of the name.

He explained that the correct pronunciation of Colm’s Irish name is “Colom,” rather than “Colm” as it is frequently pronounced by Arthur Morgan throughout the game.

Clark mentioned that he had tried to inform the Rockstar development team about the correct pronunciation of Colm O'Driscoll's name. However, his suggestions were not adopted, and the mispronunciation remained in the final cut of the game. Although the reasons behind this choice were never explicitly communicated to him, the developers were evidently aware of the discrepancy.

Interestingly, Red Dead Redemption 2 includes a scene where the mispronunciation is humorously addressed. In a moment of levity, Arthur, Sean MacGuire, and Kieran Duffy are gathered around a bonfire.

A discussion about Colm’s name turns into a playful altercation, with Sean insisting that Kieran pronounce it correctly. Despite this scene, Arthur continues to mispronounce the name throughout the game, and no character corrects him further.

This unresolved issue has led to speculation among fans about whether the intentional mispronunciation was a deliberate choice to reflect the camaraderie and respect within the game's world. Perhaps the developers wanted to show that Arthur’s friends valued him so highly that they wouldn’t correct him, no matter the mistake.Ultimately, the reason remains a mystery, leaving players to interpret it as they see fit.
