As excitement builds for the release of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP on September 12, producer Yoshimi Yasuda has shed light on the updates to the game’s Original mode. Originally released in 2012, Lollipop Chainsaw captivated players with its unique blend of cheerleading and zombie-slaying action, crafted by James Gunn and Goichi “Suda51” Suda’s Grasshopper Manufacture. With the upcoming remaster, fans can look forward to revisiting the quirky, zombie-filled adventure with some fresh changes.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP promises to retain the offbeat charm and zombie action that made the original a cult favorite. Alongside the new RePOP mode, which introduces comic book-style pop-up effects and a toned-down level of violence, the Original mode is designed to preserve the essence of the 2012 release. Yasuda has assured fans that this mode will keep the original’s gore, cutscene direction, and art style intact, without any platform-driven revisions.
Yoshimi Yasuda recently took to Twitter to detail the specific updates in the Original mode of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. While the core elements of the game remain true to the original, several gameplay adjustments have been made to enhance the experience for modern players:
- Chainsaw Blaster Adjustments: The number of shots available in Juliet’s Chainsaw Blaster has been modified.
- Nick’s Special Moves: Changes have been made to how Nick’s special moves function.
- Quick-Time Events: These can now be set to trigger automatically.
- Ranking Mode Update: This has been revamped to a time attack format that encompasses all stages of the game.
- Chop2Shop.zom Store: The lineup and pricing of items have been revised.
- New Chain Attack System: A new system for chain attacks has been introduced.
- Visual Enhancements: Improvements to image quality, resolution, and framerate have been implemented.
- Voice Work: Yukari Tamura’s voice work will be one of four options available for Juliet.
Yasuda also revealed some other modifications, such as adjusting the cutscene following the battle with Chet (also known as “Zombie Big Chicken”) to align better with other fight scenes and adding chainsaw marks that appear on walls and surfaces. A Day One patch is planned to address minor bugs and refine the new ranking mode, ensuring a smoother launch experience.
As Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP approaches its release, these updates are set to offer both nostalgia and new features, making it a must-play for both longtime fans and newcomers.
