Recent leaks have sparked interest in Honkai: Star Rail's upcoming version 2.5, hinting at a potential new banner type that could bring exciting changes to the gacha system. With version 2.5 expected to roll out in a few weeks, provided there are no delays in the typical six-week update cycle, players can anticipate the continuation of the Xianzhou Luofu story arc. Alongside this, the patch will introduce new character banners featuring three fresh playable characters, several reruns, and possibly an entirely new type of banner.
Speculation about this new banner type has been circulating for some time, but recent leaks offer more clarity. According to StepLeaks, a known leaker whose information was shared in a Reddit post labeled "Questionable," the new banner type might allow players not only to choose between three rerun characters but also their associated Light Cones. Earlier rumors suggested that players could choose between characters like Kafka, Black Swan, and Robin in version 2.5. However, the latest leaks hint at even greater flexibility and rewards.
If these leaks prove accurate, players could select from one of six 5-star options within this rumored banner type. This would offer not only a broader selection of characters but also the chance to obtain their signature Light Cones, which are often the best gear for those characters. For example, players who already have Kafka but missed her Light Cone may finally have the opportunity to complete Kafka's optimal build.
The same applies to the other rumored 5-star characters, Black Swan and Robin. This new rerun banner system could also provide an opportunity for players to enhance the Eidolon levels of characters they have previously acquired. Another intriguing detail from the leaks is the mention of pity being transferable.
It's still unclear if this shared pity system will integrate with the regular limited character banners in Honkai: Star Rail. If not, pity from this banner type might carry over to the next similar banner, which may not appear until a future update. Current leaks suggest that this type of banner won’t feature in Phase 2 of version 2.5, potentially requiring players to wait for a while to see their accumulated pity return. Nonetheless, these leaks, if true, indicate a positive direction from the developers, aiming to make older characters more accessible, even without dedicated rerun banners.
While these leaks provide an exciting glimpse into possible updates, they should be approached with caution, as details may change or be incorrect. However, as Honkai: Star Rail’s character roster continues to expand, implementing these changes early could prevent issues where characters remain absent from rerun banners for extended periods. Should these leaks be accurate, we can expect more information about the new banner type to be confirmed during the Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 livestream.
