AMD FSR 3.1 has now been released, featuring implementation by Nixxes Software in six video games. This version enhances performance by generating additional frames, improving temporal stability, reducing jitter, and preserving better details. The enhanced temporal stability minimizes shimmering and flickering, enhances ghosting reduction, and enables gameplay at lower resolutions. AMD has also pledged ongoing developer support, offering an upgradable FSR API and a decoupled frame generation technology compatible with various upscaling solutions.
AMD FSR 3.1 has officially launched, with support now available for six video games, including the acclaimed PlayStation title "Ghost of Tsushima." Nixxes Software has enabled AMD FSR 3.1 for "God of War: Ragnarok" as well. Despite being announced in March, the release of AMD FSR 3.1, also known as AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1, was awaited eagerly due to its advanced frame generation and upscaling capabilities.
Fortunately, the anticipation has ended as AMD FSR 3.1 has arrived. Nixxes Software, known for their expertise in bringing PlayStation games to PC, has integrated this technology into six different video games.
Specifically, AMD FSR 3.1 will be featured in games such as Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and later in God of War Ragnarok, slated for release on September 19, 2024.
Just a reminder, AMD FSR 3.1 enhances performance by generating additional frames per second (FPS). Compared to FSR 3, FSR 3.1 also improves temporal stability by reducing jitter, enhances ghosting reduction, and preserves better detail in games.
AMD FSR 3.1 introduces a feature known as temporal stability, which reduces shimmering and flickering while enhancing ghosting reduction. These improvements allow players to run games at lower resolutions. Additionally, like Nvidia's DLSS 2, players can still upscale the image to fit their screen size.
Ultimately, AMD emphasized its dedication to supporting developers, highlighting compatibility with Xbox Game Development Kit (GDK) and Vulkan. They also introduced the upgradable FSR API, facilitating developers' access to all forthcoming versions of FSR.
