Finishing the Kitakami Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's DLC, The Teal Mask, comes with a host of exciting rewards. Just like in many of Nintendo's Pokémon games, completing the Pokédex is a milestone that the game honors with special recognition. The ninth generation of Pokémon maintains this tradition, offering trainers the opportunity to conquer three separate Pokédexes. For dedicated players, catching every Pokémon in the Kitakami Pokédex is a fulfilling task that delivers some valuable in-game perks.
Achieving a full Kitakami Pokédex is no small feat. With 200 Pokémon to capture, including evolution lines and legendary creatures, trainers have their work cut out for them. Some Pokémon are exclusive to specific versions of the game, which means that utilizing the trading feature becomes essential to register every species in the Pokédex.
Once you've completed the Kitakami Pokédex, it's time to meet your biology teacher, Jacq, to claim your reward. You'll find Jacq to the east of Mossui Town, across the bridge, under a tree—near the area where you can have a picnic with him and receive a Pokémon egg containing a Sinnoh starter.
Jacq will praise your achievement, just as he does when you complete the Paldea Pokédex, and present you with a certificate and the highly coveted Glimmering Charm. This charm is especially useful for trainers aiming to strengthen their Pokémon teams even further.
The Glimmering Charm grants you additional Tera Shards after finishing a Tera Raid Battle, with the type of shards based on the Tera Type of the Pokémon you’re facing. The amount of shards you earn scales with the star rating of the raid battle, offering even more rewards for higher difficulties.
It's important to note that the Glimmering Charm does not boost Tera Shard rewards for 1-star, 2-star, or 7-star Tera Raid Battles. However, this charm becomes a strategic asset for trainers who wish to change their Pokémon's Tera Types at the Treasure Eatery in Medali, located back in the Paldea region.
Battle Level | Extra Tera Shards |
3-Star | 2 |
4-Star | 5 |
5-Star | 10 |
6-Star | 12 |
Changing a Pokémon's Tera Type can be a game-changer in battles, allowing you to capitalize on your Pokémon's strengths or reduce their weaknesses using the Terastallize mechanic. Since each Tera Type transformation requires 50 Tera Shards, having the Glimmering Charm can make this process more efficient for those focused on optimizing their Pokémon teams for late-game challenges.
As you progress toward completing the Kitakami Pokédex, you’ll also earn various items for each Pokémon registered, culminating in the Moon Ball once you reach 200 entries. This unique Poké Ball is particularly effective for capturing Pokémon whose evolutions involve the Moon Stone, such as Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, and Wigglytuff, with a boosted catch rate of 4x. This reward is consistent with those received for completing the Paldea Pokédex and the Blueberry Pokédex in The Indigo Disk DLC.
Pokémon Registered | Reward |
90 | PP Up x1 |
100 | Bottle Cap x10 |
110 | Razor Fang x1 |
120 | Love Ball x1 |
130 | Star Piece x5 |
140 | Prism Scale x1 |
150 | Comet Shard x3 |
160 | Friend Ball x1 |
170 | Reaper Cloth x1 |
180 | Heavy Ball x1 |
190 | PP Max x1 |
200 | Moon Ball x1 |
When you hit the milestone of capturing 150 Pokémon, you'll unlock a special quest involving Perrin, a Pokémon photographer, who will guide you on a journey into the Timeless Woods. There, you will have the opportunity to encounter and capture the Kitakami-exclusive Pokémon, Bloodmoon Ursaluna, listed as Pokémon 196 in the Pokédex.
Successfully completing this quest will earn you a Choice Scarf and a level 15 Hisuian Growlithe from Perrin, rewarding your efforts as you get closer to completing the first part of the DLC’s Pokédex.
Completing the Kitakami Pokédex is a challenging yet rewarding journey that offers substantial in-game benefits. With a total of three Pokédexes in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and its DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, trainers are motivated to continue their adventures with enticing rewards. Registering all Pokémon in the Kitakami Pokédex not only unlocks items to help build stronger teams but also provides a sense of accomplishment that makes the exploration of this beautiful region truly worthwhile.
