Astro Bot has evolved from a charming character showcasing the PS5's advanced controller technology to a significant contender in the platforming genre. The 2024 installment has captivated audiences, establishing itself as a serious candidate for Game of the Year. This platformer pays tribute to PlayStation’s rich 30-year legacy, featuring delightful cameos from some of the console’s most beloved franchises.
One such franchise is Ape Escape, which takes center stage in the “Apes on the Loose” level. Here, players are tasked with capturing several mischievous primates and, for trophy hunters, an elusive and radiant Golden Butterfly. If you're eager to learn how to locate and catch this special insect in Astro Bot, this guide will steer you toward earning the coveted Net Profit trophy.
To unlock the Net Profit trophy, players must first track down the Golden Butterfly. Your quest begins on the correct planet, specifically in the “Apes on the Loose” level, which is the sixth stage of the Gorilla Nebula. This means you’ll encounter it relatively early in the game. The level features a design inspired by the classic PlayStation title Ape Escape, where players embody the franchise's main character, Spike, equipped with a net for capturing the cheeky monkeys.
As you navigate through the level, head toward the expansive open area featuring a statue at its center. You’ll likely catch one Ape Bot before arriving in this location, but the remaining Bots, with the exception of the last one, are all found here. You’ll encounter various butterflies and bugs to catch for extra coins, but the Golden Butterfly remains hidden until you disrupt its cozy spot. To coax it out, interact with the bush located to the right of the white and yellow structure with the ladder. A gentle nudge—either by walking into it or striking it—will encourage the butterfly to take flight and attempt its escape.
While capturing the Golden Butterfly isn’t the most daunting task in Astro Bot, it can become a bit frustrating if you lack the right approach. On foot, the butterfly tends to stay just ahead of you, making it tricky to catch unless you can cut it off effectively. Thankfully, there’s a straightforward strategy that utilizes the environment around Astro to make the capture easier.
The most efficient method to catch the Golden Butterfly is to grind along the railing that encircles the central park area. While grinding, Astro moves considerably faster than the butterfly, so it’s simply a matter of closing the distance. As you get closer, jump toward the insect and swing your net to catch it. It may take a few tries, but this approach is a guaranteed way to add the Net Profit trophy to your achievements, bringing you one step closer to unlocking that Platinum trophy.
