In Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, every choice you make carries weight. This game deviates from the typical heartwarming narrative associated with Disney and its beloved mascot, offering players the chance to tread a more villainous path right from the start.
As Mickey sets off on his quest to either restore or further destroy the world he has marred and confront the creature that drew him into the Wasteland, players will face tough decisions that have no turning back. One of the initial choices involves deciding between rescuing a Gremlin trapped in a catapult or opening a chest filled with unknown treasures. This guide will help you understand the potential outcomes of choosing the Gremlin or the chest in Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.
Your first major decision will put the fate of a Gremlin in your hands, making it crucial to weigh your options carefully. You can either break open the Gremlin’s cage to free him or use your spin attack on the chest to claim its contents.
Regardless of your choice, both options will reward you with a Concept Art piece titled The Trebuchet, which will appear in front of the tower once a decision is made. If you choose to save the Gremlin, he will reward you with a Gold Pin. On the other hand, if you opt for the treasure chest, you will receive 200 E-Tickets and a lecture from your friend Gus.
Considering the available rewards, it is advisable to rescue the Gremlin. Gold Pins are rare collectibles, and opting for the chest means you won’t be able to collect all 20 throughout the game. While 200 E-Tickets is a substantial amount, you won't encounter any merchants until much later, allowing you ample time to gather resources. By the time you reach the merchants, you likely won’t miss the 200 E-Tickets from choosing to save the Gremlin.
Ultimately, your choice reflects the kind of journey you wish to experience. If you aim to restore the game’s environments and forge friendships with enemies and bosses, starting off on the right foot by saving the Gremlin is the way to go. Conversely, if you plan to rely heavily on your Thinner and create a path of destruction, you can signal your intentions to Gus by launching one of his friends into the air.
This specific choice may not have long-term consequences as the story unfolds. However, it will lead to other decisions that affect future interactions and scenarios within the game. A notable early decision involves whether to assist Big Pete with his boat logs.
