The acclaimed action RPG Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a fresh upgrade for both PlayStation 5 and PC. Officially titled Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, this enhanced version features updated visuals on par with its sequel, and it launches worldwide on October 31.
Originally released in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and later in 2020 for PC, Horizon Zero Dawn introduced players to a post-apocalyptic world where Aloy, a skilled hunter of the Nora tribe, uncovers the secrets behind a ruined Earth. The game quickly became a fan favorite, spawning a sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, in 2022, with a third and potentially final installment expected to be announced in the coming years.
Ahead of the next chapter in Aloy’s journey, fans will soon be able to relive the origins of the series in a stunning new way. During Sony’s recent State of Play event, Guerrilla Games unveiled Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for PlayStation 5 and PC, featuring hours of re-recorded motion capture, upgraded graphics matching Horizon Forbidden West, and enhancements that utilize the latest PlayStation 5 and PC capabilities for improved visuals and performance.
- Over 10 hours of newly re-recorded motion capture for conversations.
- Visual fidelity comparable to Horizon Forbidden West.
- Enhanced accessibility features including remappable controls, haptic feedback, and assist toggles.
- Compatibility with save data from the original game, allowing players to continue their progress seamlessly.
- Launching globally on October 31.
- Priced at $50 for the full game or $10 for an upgrade from the original Horizon Zero Dawn.
In addition to the graphical overhaul, the remaster will include accessibility features first introduced in Horizon Forbidden West, such as customizable controls and visual aids. Moreover, it allows players to pick up right where they left off, thanks to save game compatibility with the original version. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will also be playable on the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro, launching November 7.
Players who already own the original game can upgrade to the remaster’s digital version for just $10, and those with a physical copy can upgrade by inserting the disc into their PS5. For newcomers, the full remaster is available for $50 on the PlayStation Store, Epic Games Store, or Steam.
Adding to the excitement, LEGO Horizon Adventures, a fun spin-off from the main series, is set to release on November 14, just weeks after the remaster. With these fresh releases, fans can revisit Aloy’s story ahead of the highly anticipated third installment, poised to bring her epic adventure to a thrilling conclusion.
