In Honkai: Star Rail, players face a powerful foe in the Feixiao boss fight, though it's technically the "Shadow of Feixiao" rather than Feixiao himself. This shadow is a manifestation of the Crimson Moon, conjured by Hoolay. Despite being a reflection, the Shadow of Feixiao poses a serious challenge, especially when it summons the fearsome Ecliptic Inner Beast, which makes the battle even more intense.
When this boss fight was introduced in version 2.5, the meta focused heavily on Weakness Break mechanics, and success in this Echo of War battle revolves around depleting the enemy's Toughness. Here’s everything you need to know to defeat Feixiao, along with essential strategies for surviving the fight.
The secret to winning this battle is breaking the enemy's Toughness, similar to the strategy used against the Doomsday Beast in Honkai: Star Rail. In Phase 1, Feixiao fights alone, and the objective is simple: deplete her HP. However, the real challenge begins in Phases 2 and 3, where she summons the Ecliptic Inner Beast, transforming the battle into a multi-part affair.
In Phase 2, Feixiao teams up with the Ecliptic Inner Beast, which consists of three distinct body parts, each with its own set of attacks and turn counts. These parts are:
- Nebula Devourer (Head)
- Planeshred Claws (Claws)
- Worldpurge Tail (Tail)
Body Part | Debuff | Effect |
Nebula Devourer (head) | Outrage | Affected ally loses control, attacking random enemies automatically |
Planeshred Claws (claw) | No debuff | Increases Feixiao's DMG |
Worldpurge Tail (tail) | Weaken | Affected ally deals reduced DMG |
While the normal attacks from these body parts aren’t particularly devastating, Feixiao has a dangerous move called Heaven’s Binds. When she uses this, two of the three body parts become enhanced, resonating with her to unleash more powerful attacks. Resonance with the head and tail can also apply the Outrage and Weaken debuffs, further complicating the battle. This move is visually marked by Feixiao stabbing her sword into the ground, accompanied by a red prompt on the screen.
To counter this resonance effect, players must break the Toughness of the resonating body part. Here are three indicators to help identify the enhanced parts:
- The body part has a blue flaming aura.
- It carries the Resonate buff in the effects detail screen.
- The part is highlighted in red on the action order list.
Prioritizing Toughness depletion on these enhanced body parts is crucial to cancel the resonance effect and prevent massive damage.
Phase 3 is similar to Phase 2 but introduces a lethal new move called Wreathed in Storm. When Feixiao activates this ability, players can no longer attack her, and the Ecliptic Inner Beast’s body parts regain their Toughness. Following this, Feixiao unleashes her ultimate move, Sweep the Heavens, Swallow the Earth. The damage of this attack scales based on the number of body parts that haven’t been Weakness Broken.
After her ultimate, any surviving body parts that weren’t broken will be enhanced for their next attacks. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure all body parts are Weakness Broken before Feixiao has a chance to act again, or her ultimate attack could become a game-ender.
To succeed in the Feixiao boss fight, it’s important to build a team around Weakness Break mechanics. Here’s a quick breakdown of Feixiao’s weaknesses:
Body Part | Weakness |
Feixiao | Fire, Wind, Quantum |
Nebula Devourer (head) | Physical, Fire, Quantum |
Planeshred Claws (claw) | Fire, Wind |
Worldpurge Tail (tail) | Physical, Quantum |
Based on this, players can choose a team that targets these weaknesses effectively. For example, Firefly’s team comp in Honkai: Star Rail works well, focusing on Fire and Quantum elements. Here are some viable team compositions to consider:
Feixiao Boss Team Comp 1 | Firefly + Ruan Mei + Gallagher/Lingsha + Harmony MC |
Feixiao Boss Team Comp 2 | Silver Wolf + Fu Xuan/Lynx + Jade + Himeko |
Feixiao Boss Team Comp 3 | Boothill + Ruan Mei + Gallagher/Lingsha + Bronya |
Feixiao Boss Team Comp 4 | Gallagher/Lynx + Qingque/Guinaifen + Asta/Hanya + Luka/Sampo |
If you’re still finding the Feixiao boss fight difficult, consider the following strategies to improve your chances:
- Maximize Energy: Enter the fight with maximum Energy to unleash powerful abilities right from the start.
- Use Food Buffs: Don’t hesitate to use food items to boost your team’s stats before engaging in battle.
- Employ Techniques: Activate your team’s Techniques before starting the fight to gain an early advantage.
By following these strategies and assembling a team tailored to exploit Feixiao’s weaknesses, you’ll increase your odds of surviving and emerging victorious in this challenging Echo of War encounter.
