With the highly anticipated Until Dawn remake launching in less than a month, PlayStation has officially revealed the system requirements and PC-specific features for the upcoming horror title. In line with previous PlayStation PC ports, Until Dawn offers a range of enticing features, showcasing strong optimization for PC players.
Scheduled for release on October 4, just in time for the Halloween season alongside Silent Hill 2, the Until Dawn remake revisits the 2015 hit that made waves on PS4. Despite the positive reception of the original, some fans have questioned why Until Dawn was chosen for a remake. Speculation suggests this could be a strategic move, possibly setting the stage for the franchise to play a bigger role in PlayStation's future. With an Until Dawn movie in the works, the game's commercial success could determine whether a sequel, Until Dawn 2, will eventually materialize.
While it remains to be seen whether the remake will captivate players as the original did nine years ago, PC gamers shelling out $60 can rest assured about the game’s technical prowess. Developer Ballistic Moon recently shared the PC requirements on the PlayStation Blog, noting that a minimum of 8GB RAM, a GTX 1660 or AMD RX 470, and an Intel i7 4790K or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X will be necessary to run the game at 720p 30fps. For those seeking to crank up the visuals to 4K 60fps, the game will demand heftier hardware, including an RTX 3080 Ti or AMD RX 6900XT, an Intel i7 11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and 16GB RAM.

- Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.1: Advanced upscaling and frame-generation technology
- Full DualSense Integration: Complete with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
The game seems well-optimized even for lower-end systems, especially for a title powered by Unreal Engine 5. But that’s not all – Ballistic Moon has packed Until Dawn with a variety of performance-enhancing features. From ultrawide monitor compatibility and ray tracing to the cutting-edge upscaling via Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.1, PC players are in for a visually immersive experience. Additionally, Until Dawn brings full DualSense controller support, ensuring that PC players won’t miss out on the enhanced immersion provided by adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.
Despite some ongoing skepticism surrounding the need for an Until Dawn remake, the extensive feature set presented by Ballistic Moon and PlayStation gives PC gamers plenty of reason to take interest. As the game's release coincides with recent layoffs at Ballistic Moon, the success of Until Dawn may hold even more significance. With these technical upgrades and the promise of a nostalgic yet polished experience, Until Dawn could be one of the must-play titles for horror fans this spooky season.
