In Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4, the lineup of characters has expanded, introducing fan favorites like Gwenpool and Shuri to the mix. Additionally, Triage Trooper is making a return, allowing players to hire him, as well as Artemis, Centurion, or Ruckus, for quests. However, hiring defeated Henchmen is still not an option. While the character count remains modest, it's expected to grow as the season progresses.
Currently, there are 14 characters scattered across the island, though the area around Mount Olympus is notably sparse. Interacting with these NPCs can provide you with valuable items, opportunities to purchase rare weapons, or even hire them to gain a competitive edge.
Specialists such as Scout, Heavy, Supply, and Medic can be hired during matches, each offering unique abilities. Scouts can mark and target enemies from a distance, Heavies handle explosives and are fire-resistant, Supplies keep your ammo stock replenished, and Medics can heal and even revive you. Knowing the locations of these characters in advance can be crucial for future quests, as certain missions may require specific characters.
Though Fortnite characters no longer distribute quests, they are still incredibly useful for items, healing, and combat assistance. Understanding their locations can be the difference between victory and defeat. If you're looking to hire a bodyguard or benefit from their services, you'll need to track down all 14 characters.
Characters accept Fortnite gold bars as payment, which you can use to purchase weapons, items, and other services. With the massive size of Fortnite’s world, it’s unlikely you'll stumble across all of them by accident. That’s where this guide comes in, ensuring you’ll quickly find the characters you need to meet.
There are 14 official characters to find in Fortnite, and you can keep track of who you’ve encountered by visiting the Characters tab on the Quests screen. They each spawn at specific locations, which makes tracking them easier. If another player hires or eliminates a character, they will no longer be present in their designated spot.
You’ll know you’re near a character when a speech bubble icon appears on your map, and you’ll see the same icon above their head—even through walls. Some characters can be recruited to fight by your side, and a specific "Hire" icon will replace the speech bubble when that option is available. Once you interact with them, they’ll be added to your Collection, and you’ll receive a confirmation on your screen. Here are the current Fortnite character locations:
1. Artemis – Underworld Station (east of The Underworld)
2. Brite Raider – Dock southeast of Brutal Beachhead
3. Captain Jones – South of Restored Reels
4. Centurion – Piney Lane (north of Doomstadt)

13. Triage Trooper – Lake southwest of Grand Glacier
14. War Machine – Latverian Station (southwest of Doom's Courtyard)
- Emma Frost – The Raft

When you find a Fortnite character, interacting with them offers a variety of options, from completing tasks to purchasing services or items. These are some of the choices available, though not all are currently active:

- Hire – Recruit the character to join your squad and fight alongside you.
